Son David is coming over today for a turkey dinner.
But I also finished Robin Cook's Pandemic. Meh. I've since started The Answer Is. Alex Trebek reads his introduction, but the book is read by Ken Jennings. Slender read. Only 4 hours.
The zoom funeral has ended. Both Rosenda and her husband have had careers in video, and that certainly helped. The intro was a lifetime of pictures with several songs in the background. Then came a brief video with clips from her news career. The service itself was a little different in that there was no music, only a series of readings, the homily and the prayers at the end. Both of her sons read, one offered a passage from the Bible and the other had some memories of his mother. There were a few shots of the audience. Everyone was socially distanced and wore masks throughout. The Episcopalian priest who performed the ceremony also put on his mask when her sons came up to speak. The priest knew Rosenda well, which made his homily all the more touching.
Just to be clear, because the media's click-bait headlines are working overtime, they didn't "shoot" a reporter in the sense that they'd like you to believe - they "shot" tear gas and the canister hit her hand - no injuries, walked away. I HATE click-bait headlines.
What did everyone do before Zoom? Because I never heard the word Zoom before this pandemic began in March. So, Zoom has effectively ended Skype? And Face Time?
Well, I'm in Act 3. Might as well hear the rest.I've forgotten how wonderful Verdi's orchestration is in this.

The end of that scene has the wonderful decrescendo that no one ever hears in the theatre because of applause, but then you've got the Windsor Forest, Nanetta's wonderful fairy music and the magnificent fugue at the end.

And they controlled it by not lowering the curtain too soon, so it's all heard. That sloppy curtain practice used to KILL ME.
DR John I meant to tell you yesterday I finished The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper and enjoyed it very much. Thanks for recommending it.

My book group has chosen this and I suspect there won't make for a good discussion.

The trill occurs when Falstaff, after being dumped in the river, is brought a mug of ale and he drinks it. It's just before Mistress Quickly appears with her "Reverenza" to tell him about the meeting at Herne's Oak. I'm glad the end of the scene was good and quiet.
