So many wonderful Brit stuff has been mentioned...I will try not to duplicate, although it will be difficult.

My first one is, of course, also a choice by someone else:

Movie - THE RED SHOES and I will also add the perverse PEEPING TOM.  And to those I will add THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST and EXPRESSO BONGO and THE YOUNG ONES.

Musicals - hmmmmm OLIVER! and BLOOD BROTHERS.

Plays - HENRY V and A CHORUS OF DISAPPROVAL by Alyn Ayckbourn. And ARMS AND THE MAN and PYGMALION.

I'm up, I'm up.

Re, the Karen Morrow/Who Gave You Permission session: Karen is not that comfortable in the studio, so we did a few takes to get her comfortable, and I gave her a few little notes, and then she just nailed it in one or two takes, and I mean nailed it.  When she began, she was just trying to sing it - by the end, she was inhabiting the song, which is all you ever want.

Nice review this morning for the play - even though the Macarena wasn't mentioned!  ;D

Can you believe I'm actually out of futon before noon on a Saturday? What is this world coming to? I am eating a nice healthy breakfast of Hershey kisses, cole slaw, and a Cherry Coke.

Final exam and term paper season has started, so I'm trying to get some History done today. And then I get to start on my Rhetoric paper.

I know it's not Ask BK day, but does anybody have any good ideas about what to write a Rhetoric paper on?? I'll take bad ideas too if there aren't any good ones.

I'm also signed up for summer school. Two hours and ten minutes a day in another History class. How excited am I?

My favorite British TV show is Red Dwarf, but the local PBS station quit showing the reruns, so I haven't seen it in a long time. I also watch Keeping Up Appearances. One time, my brother answered the phone with "The Boo-kay residence, the lady of the house speaking," and I laughed so hard Cherry Coke came out of my nose.

My idea would be to write a rhetoric paper on the subject of rhetoric.

Of course, if I were writing said paper, the entire paper would be about why anyone felt the need to stick that useless "h" in the word rhetoric.

It is Betsy's and my anniversary today.   We will be journeying to the coast with the kids for a few days so I shall be E&T unless I can log on at an internet cafe.

I awoke to find a two page review of the Showtime Reefer in the Oregonian.  I found this somewhat ironic, as when our version was in development here, the Oregonian refused to use the term "Reefer Madness" in our ads for casting, and then (by coinkydink?  I think not) published the wrong venue and/or performance times repeatedly once we had opened.  I fired off a letter to them this morning to that effect.  My collaborator is convinced that the other version has appropriated large portions of our adaptation, but I have not seen it, so I can't speak to that.  This has been a very frustrating situation, but I have joked for some time that I am now in the Maury Yeston/Andrew Lippa club for life.  This is what has made me intent on protecting my authorship rights on any other things I've written--I now have an attorney who is a bulldog.  Arf.   ;D

Well, then, you'll be happy to know that the cable movie has garnered some of the worst reviews in the history of cable.  And why not?  I saw it the week it opened in LA and it was not good then, and I can't imagine it was good in NY, hence why should it be good as a cable movie?  How did it get made?  Well, let's just say that someone high up was having a liason with someone involved in the property.  And so it goes.

I find this such a pleasant way to spend a Saturday morning - looking out the window at a beautiful day, whilst hanging out at haineshisway.com with a Diet Coke by my side and the singing bird in the yard doing its rendition of Coco.

All these gas prices mentioned so far actually don't seem too bad to us west coast types.  The cheap stuff here in Tacoma is currently around $2.37.

All things British?  First stage stuff that jumped to mind was Sleuth, Noises Off, and Stop the World - I Want to Get Off.  As for TV, Fawlty Towers is certainly wonderful, and I also rather enjoy Keeping Up Appearances starring Patricia Routledge.

$2.39 in Tigard, where I mostly work.  $2.45 in Portland proper.  Of course, Oregon is one of only two states that bans self-service, so part our expense is overhead for the slack-jawed ape-person who fills your tank.  ;)

Today's mail brought the renewal for the Broadway tours. I am disappointed. Three of the seven shows they have already brought through.

Moving Out (not interested)
Annie (repeat)
Evita (repeat)
Swan Lake (not particularly interested)
Golda's Balcony
Joseph... Dreamcoat (repeat)
Wicked

JMK, I am quite pleased the Oregon hasn't gone to self serve gas!

When I was in Washington last weekend we had to fill up the car and it was such a pain! LOL! I hated it! I much prefer to stay put in my car and have the slack jawed gas jockey take my debit card and "fill 'er up"!

And the gas in Washington wasn't any cheaper then here..which isn't saying much!
