I know of many seniors who could really use some help. I'm hoping that some of the people who lost jobs due to the lockdown will start businesses to fill this need.

Back from eating a nice turkey sandwich, for which I did NOT hold the mayonnaise.

Also back with the Flonase --
For I was in a daze
And could only lie upon the chaise
While my nose was all ablaze.

The malaise craze
Has gone on for days.
Everyone spends, nobody pays.
Government has its means and ways
And the people wait for the end of phase
TEN.

Butt ugly word of the day: deduplicate. (Or etacilpuded backwards, which sounds a little better.)

It means to eliminate redundancy.

Redundancy can actually be a good thing. It was the business model for Tandem Computers and is often found in nature. (Just my 2 cents.)

DR Jeanne I was telling Keith how great it is you found your personal shopper.  Vibes you do get to keep him.

Back from a great meal outside at the Smoke House.  I was a very good boy - shrimp cocktail, cup of clam chowder, and a wedge salad with 1000-Island dressing.  Oh, and four pieces of garlic cheese bread, not as bad as it sounds as they're very thin and small - imagine a six-inch Subway sandwich - take the top half of that and slice into fifths - I had four of those five.  That and the 1000-Island dressing were the worst of the calories so I'm guessing I didn't go over 1000.

After my two posts earlier today, I came home and hung out, then I met my friend Margo at the local Eagan's burger joint and we chatted and ate.  My friend Judy works there, so I broke the news to her.  Just a few days ago, Judy posted on FB that HER brother had just died!  He had Downs and Alzheimer's, but still, it was a shock to her, too. :(

I came home and called my sister.  We talked a bit, then I went over to her house.  Around 3:30 my mom called and told us that my dad finally died around 3:00 pm.  Before then, the doctors made sure that he was comfortable.  He had last rites, so that's good.  She sat with him and remembered him and then he finally passed.  She didn't want us coming over yet.  She just wanted to spend some time alone and process everything and decompress.

We're all going over tomorrow at some time, and then we'll be together.  We also made calls to their friends and other family who needed to know, so that's taken care of.

In a town hall meeting we had last week, someone mentioned that he wanted to go and throw out the plant on his desk that by all rights should be dead now. Turns out the cleaning staff has been doing their part to keep all of the plants watered and alive.

There were a couple of people who came into my work while everyone was gone and took care of plants, too.  I was going in kind of regularly, but I don't know enough about plants to have helped.

Thanks so much, Jane.  Yes, she's strong.  Part of it is the stereotypical German stoicism, but it's probably mostly because she was a nurse for many years and saw a LOT, so she knew what to expect.

Listening to Byron Janis work his brilliance with the Rachmaninoff second and third piano concertos on Mercury - these are great-sounding performances in Mercury Living Presence - I have the SACD version, but even the CD layer is absolutely stunning.  I think Mr. Janis does these as well as anyone ever has.
