And ten minutes later, power went out for the fourth time in less than two hours.  At that point, I gave up.  It came back in within twenty seconds and I refused to restart the computer or reset the clocks and instead watched a movie.  After two hours, THEN I started up the computer and had to retrieve all my Word docs for the fourth damn time, and I reset the clocks.

Just finished The Double Life of Veronique and one of the many extras. What an amazing movie. it brought back a feeling of the foreign films that I loved so much in the 1970s. That refusal to answer questions, that uninhibited use of nudity, that emphasis on character through performances so layered and unaffected.

It's no wonder that the producer, everyone's favorite, Harvey Weinstein, made the director shoot another ending for American audiences, oen all touchy-feely and unnecessary.

I think I'm going to watch the same director Krzysztof Kieslowski's trilogy, Blue, White and Red, on Saturday as my epic this week.

But the roasted garlic chicken pizza was taboo and just under 1000 calories.  I wish I had some ice cream here for a little 200-calorie treat, but alas...

I hate when that happens and have also waited to change clocks.  I thought you hsd z surge protector for your computer.

Tonight, we watched (and enjoyed) Close Encounters of the Third Kind.  The original version.

I wonder where I got the idea to watch it?       8)

I have the Blu-ray set that has all three versions of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, so you can choose which version you want to see.  I actually wasn't able to find it on Amazon, so I'll have to make sure that that's what I really have. :-\

But I know I have some multi-version release of the movie. :)

Well, I found my Blu-ray and was able to find it on Amazon.  What I have is the Two-Disc 30th Anniversary Ultimate Edition.  They used seamless branching to be able to put all three movies on one Blu-ray disc.  The second disc is all the bonus material.

Looking at that bk clip from Donny & Marie (thanks, DR Freddie!), I am thinking: I wish I were as thin as bk was then!

I wish I were as thin as Bruce and Cindy together.

Voting started here today. I drove by the library and the line stretched around half of the building. In the sun. Will have to take water and sunscreen tomorrow.

I dropped off my ballot yesterday!

Did you fill it out first?

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS was certainly one of those masterpieces.  After I saw it for the first time, I dragged and badgered everyone I know to go see the movie.

Then I saw the extended version and I was so disappointed. I am so glad that the original version is still available on the DVD and on streaming.

We have now lost power three times in under two hours, always for five or ten seconds.  I am so tired of this ineptitude.

The lights here at my work have been blinking off and on, but they power hasn't gone out...yet.

But we are having 50 mph wind gusts.

Oh, no!  Conchata Ferrell Dies: Former ‘Two and a Half Men’ Co-Star Was 77. :(
Quote
Conchata Ferrell, a three-time Emmy nominee who appeared in more than 200 episodes of Two and a Half Men and was a regular on L.A. Law‘s sixth season, died Monday at Sherman Oaks Hospital of complications following a cardiac arrest. She was 77 as a result  She died peacefully surrounded by family.

I am sorry to hear that, but not because of TWO AND A HALF MEN.

I only watched the first couple of seasons, then dropped it.  I liked it when I did watch it, though.

I don't remember seeing it in the theater, but I'm sure that I must have.  I do remember buying the soundtrack album and not realizing that it included a 7" single of the disco version of the theme song until I opened it and saw it.  I'm pretty sure that I still have that 7" record.
