Wednesday afternoon greetings!  Our absentee ballots arrived in yesterday's mail, so we completed them and hand-delivered them to the drop-box at the Board of Elections about 7pm.  We then went to one of our favorite burger places for a drive-thru car dinner date.

Just as I expected, the glimpses of Middletown in this "Hillbilly Elegy" trailer are not very flattering:

Strong casting, though...

I sent a friend the first two chapters and last chapter of my A&T book, and received his comments. I don't think it was his cuppa tea.

I checked IMDb, which says they shot "exteriors" in Middletown, but also in several places in Macon, Georgia. I always wonder why movie companies do that. It seems so incredibly random and needlessly distant. You really can't find suitable locations all together in either place?

Anyway, it looks fine to me, too!

Here's a crazier example. The other day a friend was talking about DEATH WISH 3, which takes place in East New York, a section of Brooklyn, and some of it was shot there on location. IMDb itemizes several locations which, as far as I know, are accurate. But it also says that another couple of locations were in London, UK. I mean, WTF? With all of Brooklyn around you, you still go overseas for another neighborhood shot?

I sold a rare set of Mizoguchi films - I've tried to enjoy them, but I don't - Amazon third-party dealers are trying to get six hundred bucks for it, which I really hate, so I underpriced them by two hundred-fifty bucks and it sold in ten minutes.  The guy got it and wrote me the loveliest note, thanking me for making it so much less and saying he never thought he'd be able to afford it.

BK - was that the Eureka "Late Mizoguchi", by any chance?

I ask because I jumped on that one when it was released, because I was in a Japanese film acquisition mode at the time and I more or less assumed I could get into it and appreciate it. However, I haven't yet even taken a stab at it.

In fact, I don't think I've seen ANY Mizoguchi, and I have one or two other titles likewise sitting here unwatched.

DR Jane - that reminds me, I need to put white raisins on my shopping list for putting in my morning oatmeal.

I think it is odd but I do not like raisins in my oatmeal.  I like dried cherries cooked with it for my sweetener.  I also cook it with mostly milk vs water.

~~~KEEPING IT DOWN VIBES~~~ for DR Jane!
Thanks.  I keep it down, just feel sick and my stomach hurts.  I only used 1/3rd cup oatmeal and did ok today.
Yes he does.
Jane, I used to love oatmeal, but I also find it just too rough on my gut. Was this intended to be challenging?
I've been taking liquid CoQ10 for my gut and it has seemed to help. Vibes your condition improves.
I couldn't tell.  Yes, strong casting.  I also couldn't hear much of what they were saying as the music louder than their voices.
I am trying to regain my equilibrium after this morning's outrage. I've been unable to access my online checking account for two days and was finally able to get through to a real person. She suggested I choose an OS other than Safari or wait on hold for the tech people to see if they can find a workaround. What?! They won't say it, but it certainly looks like they're no longer supporting Safari. The last time I was outraged at their mismanagement I opened an account at another bank. It looks like it's time to make the switch for good. But I'm still mad.
Yesterday's outrage, in case you haven't heard, is that the GOP placed numerous ballot drop-off boxes around the city. They look just like the official ones, but they're FAKE. One can only speculate as to what would happen with those ballots.
Honest to God, stuff like this NEVER used to happen! It's one thing to have differences of opinion on free trade or immigration or other things, but THIS??!!
Thanks.  It isn't likely to go away.  I am surprised CoQ10 is helping your gut.  It never helped mine.  I take a good probiotic that helps.  Most helpful was the medication I took for my GERD that also helped this problem, in fact prior to taking it I was practically starving.  Since the medication might be bad for my bones I have been doing without it, and was doing ok until recently.
All this hate, no wonder sometimes I am doubled over with pain and can't move.  Mostly though I am grateful I can walk and release those endorphins.  I really would cope better if I could have held my baby granddaughter.  That won't happen now.  She turned 8 months old today, no longer a little baby.
Yesterday something very exciting happened.  Freyja likes plants, touching them and playing with cilantro.  While video chatting Bryan took a plant to her and in her delight she looked right at as to see if we were watching :)
