BK's romp through the Hitchcocks is bringing back the pain we went through in 2012 or whenever it was that Universal released their collection on Blu-ray. Through all of that, I remember rejoicing that The Man Who Knew Too Much could now actually be watched without one wanting to pluck one's eyes out for offending one. That's how much of a travesty the DVD had been.

What has me upset in the Blu-ray department is yet another announcement from Indicator that the Sweet Charity release is delayed yet again for some kind of production reason in the packaging department. But that's not the real upset. If all was well otherwise, I can live with a delay. That's just the trigger, as today's kids would say.

The true upset is their bizarre announcement that this would not, as it turns out, be the "roadshow" presentation. Somehow or other, the studio will not allow the use of the intermission break and Entr'acte, and the Exit Music. This kind of thing just boggles the mind. Will the movie buying public ever know what's up with that?

My most recent roof-burning (of the mouth variety) was but a week ago. How many times in our lives do we do this, and we never learn? For me, it's almost always that first enthusiastic but careless bite of pizza that's to blame, but this recent time it was a re-warmed bowl of...something...and look, I can't even remember what it was! But that ghost of a feeling is still there.

I'm not officially up yet, but my feeling about it is this and I bet I'm right: Kino, perhaps having helped pay or paid in full for the new transfer, asked Universal to stop Indicator from doing their roadshow version because they knew it would hurt their sales.  There is no other scenario that makes sense.

OMG. That scenario can take us back to revisiting Kino's botched release in the first place. Isn't that when they didn't seem to grasp the concept of "roadshow" when people were asking them about it? And is it the release with the too-low volume? And with a commentary track the world laughed at? (Disclaimer: I didn't buy it and haven't seen or heard any of it.)

And finally -- Kino, historically, has always thrown a John Yap-style fit whenever anyone suggested they like to buy Region 2/B releases.

Or was Kino's release, in fact, the actual complete roadshow?

DR Elmore, just a point of interest:

My CT DOL deposits, from day one, have hit my bank account every Tuesday morning without fail. No exceptions. Until last week, when for the first time, it wasn't there till Wednesday. Today looks like a repeat of that. Is this the new normal? Isn't that bizarre?

I know it's probably different in every state and every bank.

Food that is too salty.....

Food that is underdone.....

Burned Food.....

and food that is late!

ChasSmith, the Kino didn't have the entr'acte or exit music - it is, in fact, exactly what they're making Indicator do - Kino screwed up because no one there knows anything about the movies they issue.  So, they didn't know to go to Universal and say give us the entr'acte and exit music so we have a proper roadshow.  And now, if my guess is correct, they've complained to Universal that they paid (or partially paid) for a new scan and they don't want Indicator's release to be different, as that would hurt Kino's sales.  I know a lot of folks love Kino - I'm not one of them because I find their "expert" to be a buffoon and quite unpleasant.

Last week was delayed a day because the government offices were closed on Monday.  My payment arrived today.  Send them an inquiry.

Amazon's been using this shitty shipping company, Lasership.  They once claimed to deliver a $60+ page from Petco that I never received and Petco had to ship again.  Lasership claims they delivered an Amazon package to me yesterday and handed it to a resident.  So where the hell is it?

I had a shipment from Amazon UK (my first in a long time) that was the most horrendous packaging I've ever seen. They sent it via DHL (which was actually nice, for the speed in which it arrived), but they'd packaged it in a flimsy wrap-around piece of corrugated that, when delivered to me, was OPEN at one end and loose on the other. The open-end flap was actually separated from the rest. The DHL driver had to carefully set it on my front step to keep the contents wrapped and the wrapping more or less together. It's a bloody miracle that the two items in there were (1) actually there, and (2) completely and utterly unharmed.

Now I'm afraid to order anything else from them.

Amazon.co.uk shipped me a full score in a cardboard wrapper that the USPS let get soaked in the rain. I wasn't home so they left me a delivery attempt.  By the time I picked up the score it was ruined by water damage.

Bk, they're talking about Joe Brooks on the Forgotten Musicals site.  Do you know why he never tried to put "You Light Up My Life" onstage?  (Or maybe he did)

DR Elmore, I'm so sorry to hear about the freezer disaster.

Been there, done it. It's just terrible having to throw out what would have been a bunch of good meals. Not to mention the cleanup, etc.

One advantage of being a vegetarian, not as much food needs to be immediately trashed.  Over the years all our food had to be deposed of more often than I can remember.  We lost power far too often in our second Michigan home.  All that ice cream we couldn't eat fast enough ;)

When I worked with him, I never once was paid with any tax information or records, and, to my knowledge, neither was anyone else, absolutely no paperwork.  Each of us individually went into another room with John, where fees were reckoned and payments made in traveler's checks.  I cannot speak for the others, but this is what I observed.  Hmmm . . .

DR ChasSmith, the thread was on the Facebook page Cast album Collectors.

Thanks!

I'm in Cast Recordings and Forgotten Musicals, but didn't know about this one. I'm in now. Thank you!

It looks like all he had to do was, you know... answer the question. My God, what a case.

I haven't been on FB in a while and I don't think I knew about the Cast Album Collectors page.  I'll have to check that out...and what's going on.

I received an order last month from https://soundofmusic-shop.de/ and that's exactly what happened to me, except that one flap WAS opened and the package didn't contain three, count 'em, THREE of the five CDs that I ordered!  I emailed them and sent pictures, and they did replace them in a package that was taped up VERY securely.

As is typical during the opening hour or two of a Criterion sale, their website took a beating from the traffic. But I was there as the clock struck twelve, and managed to get in and out in a few minutes time.

I followed that hair raising adventure by going over to Kritzerland and grabbing two recent titles. Whew! Do I like to live dangerously, or what?
