I'm throwing away CD's.  Criteria - if they are on Spotify or Apple Music.... they are gone.  It's what it is folks, shun as much as you'd like.   I am saving all Varese and Kritzerland issues.  And that "other" label as well, I suppose.  But everything else.... haven't looked at it in 10+ years so it's going going gone.

And that's all I'm saying about THAT.

Time to make sharkotka.

I confess I had to look that one up.  Yummy!

So did I ;D

There was a recipe in the Washington Post this week. Sounded so good.

The aroma is incredible.

I have been told the Rebecca remake is very good.  I hesitate to watch it.

And now, I'm off to bed.  Today, I have no plans, but I need to go into work for a moment.  I think I left my bag with my Kindle and other stuff there because I can't find it here at home.  It's not in my car and I know I didn't bring it into my mom's house yesterday, so it really can only be at work...hopefully.  Otherwise, I'll stay home, do some laundry, maybe watch a bit of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, and more than likely watch the last three episodes of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  Oh, and eat some egg salad sandwiches. ;D

Have a good day, all!

Well, I didn't have plans, but my sister did. ::) She called and asked if I would go to the store for her.  She was having her friends over (she's known one of them since high school, they met the other two in college, and the four have stayed friends since then) and needed some stuff.  I said that I could in a couple of hours.

When I left my house, I stopped off at work and my bag with my Kindle WAS there, so that was a relief!  I went to my sister's and we chatted, then she texted my her list as I left for the store.  She and her friends were going to order food from The Olive Garden so they each were to bring dessert stuff.

That's what I got for my sister.  Ice cream, whipped cream, Oreos to crush, bananas, root beer for floats, etc.  I also got gas while I was out and about, so that was good.  After I dropped off the goods (tomorrow, the family is going to her house for our weekly-ish family dinner, so I'll get some of the leftover dessert stuffs!), I went to Subway for lunch.  I got a footlong ham, cheese and egg flatbread.

I ate half for lunch and I just now remembered that I still have the other half for dinner, so I'll eat that pretty soonly.  It heats up well enough for me.  I then came home and read on my Kindle, watched some of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds (don't love it, don't hate it), did some other stuff on my computer, and now I'm here to ketchup on all of today's posts...and eat my Subway flatbread. :)

My mind is made up.

I am not giving a presentation - on Wednesday evening, or at any other time.

That's my decision and I'm sticking to it.

Good for you, ChasSmith! ;)

To the great lists of Paul Newman flicks so far, I will add:

Mr. and Mrs. Bridge
Buffalo Bill and the Indians, Or, Sitting Bull’s History Lesson
Paris Blues

Oh, Paris Blues!  I forgot that I recorded that on TCM for my dad (before it became a pay channel and I dropped it ::) ) and still have it on my DVR.

The bastards at Crane Cooling have really fucked me over.  No delivery yet, and when I call the office number, someone says in a heavy foreign accent "Call back in 30 minutes."  I haven't had breakfast, but I have sent an angry email to building management.  To put it mildly, I am thoroughly frustrated and pissed off.

As well you should be! >:(

Okay, I've been eating it for two days, and am happy to present:

MY WIFE OF FIRST COUSIN ONCE REMOVED'S SLOPPY JOE RECIPE

The info in parentheses is whatever I used or did this time.

1 1/2 lbs ground beef (85% lean)
2/3 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion (white)
* 1 cup ketchup (Heinz)
* 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
* 1 tbsp mustard (regular yellow)
* 1 tbsp vinegar (apple cider vinegar)
* 3 tbsp brown sugar (dark)
Salt and pepper (unspecified, so I seasoned the meat with fresh ground pepper and sea salt while browning)

Brown the meat. (She doesn't say to drain it, but I do.)
Combine the (*) ingredients in saucepan, bring to a boil and remove from heat.
Once meat is browned, add the celery and onion and mixture. Simmer 30 minutes.

I love Martin's potato rolls for burgers and such, but I'll eat Sloppy Joes on anything.

(I found other recipes calling for green bell pepper instead of celery, and for sautéing the onion and bell pepper in a little olive oil first. I'd choose not to do that, as this recipe provided a nice freshness and bit of crunch. I also thought the simmering improved it.)

That sounds really good, ChasSmith!

I was in a Barnes and Noble back in July to pick up a few things during their Criterion sale. The 1953 War of the Worlds had just been released, and every copy had been grabbed up before I got there on the second day of the sale. That happened nearly everywhere, and demand was such that it was backordered online as well, so I waited it out.

The other hot hot hot title then was the James Whale Show Boat which was #1 on my list. The store had only one copy which had apparently gotten abused at the packaging stage, and I declined to take that one. I'd had their laserdisc for years, anyway.

Finally, their flash sale happened this week, and I just got my shipment which included both of those. I'm a happy boy.

Darn!  I put a whole bunch of titles in my wish list for the Criterion 50% off sale...and then I forgot to order anything. :-\

I'd been salivating over the big George Szell box - I had it in my shopping cart for ages at Amazon a year ago but never did it - at that point it was only about $170 for 106 discs.  Alas, it's now in the stratosphere, price-wise, but I had something someone wanted and we bartered and now it is mine.  Uploading the CDs now - will take quite a while, I should think.  Listening to Dovrak's marvelous Slavonic Dances, disc one, in glorious mono.

Congrats, BK!

It was probably only about five years ago that finally all my appliances matched. At one time I had an almond fridge, a white dishwasher, and a black stovetop.

It does look nice when they all match, or just have two colors ;)

My parents used to have a dishwasher with three panels that you stored in the front.  Each panel had a different color on each side, so it had six different colors that you could choose from.
