I was about to say that I think our 1962 Mercury had the optional AUTOSCHEDIASM.

We recorded our "bows" last night.  I was wearing my Mister Fezziwig costume, but the director insisted I put on my top hat so I could do a bit with Mr. Poole.....so there you are.

I have one more scene to record....tomorrow evening.....and then my silent bit.....and then hopefully I am done barring any need for RE-recording.

Rosemary's Baby, of course.

My Cousin Rachel - the first version with Richard Burton.  I liked the recent version, but they changed the ENDING.....it was completely illogical!

Just broke my favorite coffee mug, burned my foot with the hot coffee that was in it and made a mess everywhere. Welcome to Monday.

I've made the bed, dragged out the Big Ladder and brought down enough cat food for the next 30 days, and vacuumed.  I will lie down for a bit and let my legs calm down.

Browsing this week's Met Opera freebies, I find this is "Politics in Opera" week.

In the contemporary music department, we have John Adams's Nixon in China on Thursday, John Corigliano's The Ghosts of Versailles on Saturday, and Philip Glass's Satyagraha on Sunday. I'm a little 'eh' on the Adams and Glass, but I have to say that those delightful Ghosts are not to be missed.

The following two weeks are "From the Baroque to the Present". There's a Bluebeard's Castle on Monday, Nov. 9th, which I will definitely watch. And The Exterminating Angel comes calling again on Sunday the 15th.

The Exterminating Angel

I can give that Angel a few suggestions to start with.

Whoa. That's a great list, DR Elmore.

Did you see the HBO adaptation of Mildred Pierce several years ago? They followed the book and I remember really liking it. I need to see it again.

I love Nixon in China. But Ghosts is better.

Day of the Locust is one of my favorite novels, and the movie is amazing. Thanks for the reminder, Elmore.

And yes, Circle of Friends was better as a movie than the book.

I love Ghosts.  In face, I bought the Met's DVD boxed set just for that, which wasn't available elsewhere. Now you can stream it from the Met's subscription service, I believe.

The category of unsuccessful adaptations could go on forever, starting with just about every religious movie ever made. To that list, I point out:

The Age of Innocence (now hailed as a masterpiece because Scorsese’s name is attached)
The Sheltering Sky
Their Eyes Were Watching God
Wuthering Heights (any version)

No kidding.

If I had it to do over again, I'd get every one of those great sets. Back in the first years that they were being issued, I didn't even know about most of them. Now it's just impossible.

DR Jrand70, are you referring to someone who's participating in a Zoom being able to record the session? I don't think I knew you could do that.

If you are logged into Zoom as a convener of the meeting, I believe I have seen an Admin option for recording the meeting when pre-scheduling it.

If those box sets are so popular, I don't understand why the companies wouldn't re-release them, unless their licensing limited the number they could produce.
