FATTY BITS

Well, you've read the notes, you know you must pull your weight, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home after grabbing their fatty bits.

Good Morning!

Well, since it just past 3:00AM here on the East Coast, and I have to be up by 9:00AM here on the East Coast tomorrow morning/later today...-I haven't been up before 9:00AM in weeks! So...

But before I go...

And I believe BK inspired a new song with the opening words of today's Notes:

"I will SURIVE!"

BK - Is there anyone referenced/mentioned in your Benjamin Kritzer trilogy that you have not met/contacted recently and would like to do so?

Oh, I'm sure - it would be nice to get a copy of Kritzer Time to Joel Grey, who'd probably get a kick out of it.  Leslie P. of course.  I've also been thinking about whether to send Kritzerland to the "friend" who inspired the last half of the book.  I now have his address.

OH!

As I was chatting with a friend the other day, I mentioned that Dawn Upshaw's recording of the Barber's "Knoxville: Summer of 1915" would be one of my Desert Island Discs.  "Desert Island what?"  -Well, after explaining the concept to him...

I know we've sort of done of this before, but...

What would be your Desert Island Discs?  (That's DIDs for short.)  And let's say you can only pick.... Well, just to shake things up a bit... Seven.  One for each day of the week.

Surived?  I don't know WHAT you're talking about.

TRUNCATE!

And with that, I must toddle off to the bedroom environment because I must be up early.

My DIDs:

1 - Dawn Upshaw - Barber-"Knoxville: Summer of 1915"
2 - Brahms - Piano Concertos; Emil Gilels, pianist.
3 - Debussy - Complete Piano Works; Walter Gieseking, pianist
4 - Faure - Melodies Integrales - Gerard Souzay, bariton; Elly Ameling, sopran
5 - Bach - Well Tempered Clavier, Book 1; Andras Schiff, pianist.
6 - Sunday In The Park With George - OCR
7 - Ella Fitzgerald - The Complete Songbooks

*And, yes, I'm sort of cheating since the Brahms, Faure, and Ella Fitzgerald are multi-disc sets... so...  However, if pressed to pick one of the Ella Fitzgerald Songbooks it would have to be the first Harold Arlen one.

Well, well, well... My eyes must have been deceiving me.

However, I'm still wondering about that "I must drink yard of Diet Coke" from yesterday.

Yes DRELMORE the lovely Diane McBain played Tiffany in MARY,MARY the movie, and looked lovely!

Too bad the Jackie'Jonathan picture didn't come out.  Oh well.  The room is just FULL of Allison's co-stars.  And as MBARNUM reminded us, Tommy Cook did co-star with Miss Leslie Parrish.

I got my days mixed up.  I guess Passover wasn't now it's later.

DRJose, TIDDLING would have been a euphemism.  I feel I can speak for my learned confreres that we know the meaning of toddle.  Topple, as well, and tipple. ;D

Good morning, all!  I wish someone would walk into the apartment right now on this ugly rainy morning and shoot me between the eyes.  It's too early, I have to go out in around 30 minutes, and I slept very poorly last night so I'm moving cautiously.

Desert Island Discs:
1.  Dawn Upshaw: Knoxville: Summer of 1915
2.  Kern:  Sitting Pretty
3.  Bernstein:  Candide (OBC)
4.  Bizet:  Carmen (Solti, Tatiana Troyanos or Beecham and De Los Angeles)
5.  Mozart:  Le Nozze di Figaro (Giulini conducting Schwartzkopf, Moffo et al))
6.  Sondheim:  Sweeney Todd  (OBC)
7.  Guy Haines' album, which sustained me most of last year

Yesterday's topic got me thinking about books the DRs wish they'd written, and I'll start:
Austen's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE / PERSUASION
Bradbury's SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
Stella Gibbons' COLD COMFORT FARM
Scott Smith's A SIMPLE PLAN
Hammett's THE THIN MAN

Morning all!

That storm blew through and brought some cold temps with it.  It's a very nasty day.  Very cold, chilly.

I love my new memory foam pad!  What a difference after only one night.  Mom says she is sleeping much better as well.  I'm glad.  Still I wish she had listened to me when I bought her the first one.  She would have been comfortable this whole time.

Books/Music I wish I had written.  Can't think of anything.  I just wish I could come up with something of my own that everyone else would wish they had written!

It turned very cold here overnight and is only supposed to be in the low 50s today. Partyly cloudy but there is some sun. Guess I'll do some yard work since it's going to be so mild outside.

I also have ENTERPRISE and NUMBERS recorded from Friday night to watch. I'll probably watch them while I'm having dinner later.

And DODGE CITY and THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN also await.

Really looking forward to receiving the Doris Day set this week. Either LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME or JUMBO will probably be the first one out of the box.

Thanks, DR MBarnum, for the GREEN HORNET link. Might have to get that just to whet my appetite for Mr. Williams.

Like others, I'll wait for the official Fox release of the complete GREEN HORNET season rather than buying homemade versions off Ebay.

Speaking of Doris Day, has MIDNIGHT LACE ever gotten a commercial release on DVD?

I'm up, I'm up - quite congested as usual in the mornings, on account of the allergies, but thankfully no sore throat.  I seem to have a voice somewhere under all the congestion.  I shall now shave and shower.

Catching up on the last few days posts.

Re: Quiznos.  They've had a whole string of bad-and-I-do-mean-stinko advertizing campaigns.  Baby Bob isn't as bad as some they've had, but it's still too Clutch Cargo for my tastes.

A new Quiznos shoppe has opened close to where we live.  Der Brucer and I went in last night, to see what they had.  We walked right back out again.

Ok, I finely got around to fixing up a picture to the way I like it.  Hope you do as well.  I'm taking it easy today.  Doing what I want to do for a change.   I think I'll watch a movie.  Back later!

I say three cheers to the cops who handcuffed that kid in school!  Since teachers are no longer allowed to discipline their charges, and since too many parents refuse to believe their children misbehave, and further since outside help had to be called in, I say that outside help should be allowed to take the steps necessary to bring the situation under control.
