I've read four of those books (or am reading -- I'm halfway through with A Promised Land). But I would agree with the awards for Caste and The Vanishing Half.

Forty years ago today John Lennon was assassinated.  He was my favorite Beatle.

I remember reading that there was going to be a (made-for-TV?) movie about John Lennon and his assassination.  They had to fire the original actor playing John Lennon because he had the same name as his assassin!

At least, that's what I remember.

I made my morning trip to the lobby for yesterday's mail, and Lolita My Love was waiting for me.

Cool!  I'm still waiting (patiently) for mine.

I have started packing, but it seems like the list of stuff is endless and I can't do a lot of it until just before leaving. Things like my sleep machine and some of the frozen or refrigerated food I'm taking. (Yes, I bought tamales because, well, the sound of Louisville tamales for Christmas is rather depressing.)

I should, however, don't care to read Caste.  I put The Vanishing Half on hold at my libraries.  It is a long wait.  I will recommend it for my library group.   If chosen I just might have to purchase it, darn

I think Sally Durant Plumber is "direct from Teaneck" rather than "direct from Phoenix."
