For the last 40 years we've celebrated New Year's Eve with a soup-tasting party at the church. Soup and games until the wee hours (9 p.m.).

This year I'm making soup to enjoy at home. I'll drop off some vegetable barley soup for my daughter, and I'm having mushroom with wild rice.

Keith will have the barley please and I the mushroom with wild rice.

My neighbors Ann and Jen are on Martha's Vineyard for the week, so they are sending me a New Year's Eve dinner.  They return to New York on the 17th, so I need to do soemthing special for them when they return.

Answered e-mails, heard a project one thing and gave notes.

It’s been a real struggle this week.

May next week be easier.  I can't recall, when do you return home?

I believe the year of covid has messed with my brain.  Or maybe it is the weather and I am not getting enough exercise.

Plans are for some time after Jan. 6. I did manage to get a lot of work done, but the effort to get myself to do it was almost as much as the work itself.

There are just days like that, and I had several this week. People not being there both helped and hurt. Next week will be like being shot out of a cannon.

I have too many days like this.  As for January 6th, I don't think I will relax until we are safely past it.

Twilight Zone marathon on SyFy Channel.....horribly chopped up for extra commercials...but still fun.

Up next.....The After Hours.....Anne Francis tries to return a scratched golden thimble.

That's Entertainment, etc on TCM tonight.....

Released in 1974....46 years ago.....now that movie is OLDER than all of the clips it featured were when the whole darn thing was first released....and those clips seemed ancient at the time......

No, autocorrect, I did NOT intend to type "batch slap."

Although that might be more efficient.

We’ve picked up groceries and fried chicken with side dishes for tonight’s dinner.  There will be leftovers, as there were last night when I made meat loaf, so I can take the day off from cooking tomorrow.

We're rustling up some of the traditional snack type foods we traditionally have at our traditional NYE par-tays when our traditional guests are in attendance.

I am home from my test and a small bit of grocery shopping.  Mostly looking for Sheba Cat Food, but Safeway's Sheba shelf was stripped clean.  Not a single can.  For the second time in a row.  Safeway had their holiday moron crew working today, so I didn't even bother to ask if they were discontinuing the brand.  I'll ask next week.

Picked up some packages but NO important envelopes - that's totally the USPS who, I was told, brought a tiny amount of mail today, clearly not wanting to be bothered with all the mail that's piled up.  Well, people depend on important envelopes and now we have to wait until Saturday to see if they'll arrive.  One final annoyance for 2020.   I would have expected no less.
