Back from some pasta papa in the car, picking up packages, and I shall now futz and finesse and write new pages.

Three finnicky cats are driving me mad over their dinner.  All three turned down chicken hearts and liver, which they usually like, so I tossed it all in the trash and gave them tuna and whitefish.  Thatch and Stella ate, but Annabelle is still being a pain in my butt.

Saturday afternoon greetings!  I spent my morning on Zoom with 20 or so other AAUW members discussing Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.  It had been almost 3 years since I read the book, so I didn't have much to contribute.  It was fun to listen in, though.

What did you think of that book? Have you watched the miniseries?

The setting of Shaker Heights really struck a nerve here in Ohio.  I have not seen the miniseries because we don't have Hulu.

I knew Shaker Heights in the 1960s-1970s but I don't know anything about this story.

Oh my, that was a brilliant remark.

But I'm sorry. That's all I've got.  :)

Well, at least my back is starting to feel better. Whatever I did to it is healing.

Excellent.  Vibes it completely heals, and soon.

I don't remember much about the book except that I thought it was just ok.

I am trying something completely new. I am getting a grocery delivery from Amazon Fresh/Whole Foods.

My delivery window is tomorrow morning between 5AM and 7AM.

Has anyone else done this before? How are you alerted to the imminent arrival?

I remember thinking the writer had some life to experience. Her younger characters were fully developed, while the two older women were more interesting but heavily cliched. With two really good actresses playing the mothers in the mini-series, I was thinking the balance might have gone in the opposite direction.

Hmm, interesting. I had not been interested in watching it.  If Keith decides he wants to I won't say no.

There are a good number of suggestions on the internet for a first year baby gift.  I am not sure all of them are age appropriate.

Like baby's first copy of the Martin Scorsese collection? Or baby's first guide to gin? Baby's first Porsche? Baby's first million?

Cleaned a little in the garage for the first time in months. Finally got all of the books off the shelves that I need to get rid of. I still have to find a home for a new kitchen machines (waffle maker, juicers) until I get the metal shelving units assembled.

Finished watching Mank, and had a small Caesar from Gelson's. I've also written eight new pages, so that's a good start. I'll take a break for an hour, then try to do the next seven. I know what they are so hopefully they'll go smoothly. But I'm so pleased with today's writing I think I'll go get a sweet treat from Gelson's bakery.
