This morning I read about BK’s opinion of MALCOLM AND MARIE and last evening I got to see Zendaya interviewed on the Stephen Colbert show.

What is this about a musical featuring Malcolm Gets and Marie Osmond?

I am shopping online for a bottle brush.  I can't even elucidate how exciting are the days at chez moi.

If I sang "C'est Moi" from home, would that be "C'est Moi Chez Moi"?

I'm in a rather good mood, although my timing is off morning. The plug containing the power cable for the TV, DVD player, and VCR came loose - I'm blaming Curious Stella and her late-night romping - so I missed the morning news while the cable box reloaded; then the computer was so slow to start I had to reboot it. I don't cope well when my regimented morning schedule goes to pieces.

On the positive side, Annabelle ate, and Stella and Thatch are quite frisky this morning. I will also receive my first Amazon Fresh delivery today, so I hope that goes well.

I’ve watched part of it but haven’t yet gotten through the Met’s current Porgy and Bess.

I find it sterile, for lack of a better one-word description. And I’m put off by the Gershwin estate’s hijacking of the title, especially when used in the opera house. (Maybe I’m remembering wrong that that BS started with the Broadway production?)

DR Elmore — did you by any chance see their first production in 1984/1985? I always regretted not getting to the east coast for that. It might very well not have been a perfect realization either, but I’ll bet it had the passion and drive. I wonder if my off-the-air recording still plays. It had a couple of gaps in it because of a transmission problem that day, and those were still the pre-high fidelity days of the Met broadcasts.

And would you end with a big “MWAH!” to the audience?

The new Met production was the first time I’d seen Porgy and Bess all the way through. I couldn’t watch Trevor Nunn’s film because the lip syncing was so atrocious. I couldn’t even watch a bootleg of the Broadway with Audra and Norm, because it didn’t sound right. Tinny and thin. But I agree about this one not being in tip-top shape. Is there a video of one that is?
