Well, you've read the notes, you've delved into the haineshisway.com bag o' stuff, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home, which will be as soon as they finish delving into their bag o' stuff.

I was going to post this in last night's postings, but the day was locked.  Fortunately, when I hit the "back" button on my browser, the paragraph was still there!  I was able to copy it and here it is:

I'd probably post more but I'm copying some CDs for a co-worker...this wouldn't be so bad on its own but I've got a purring cat in my arms and she won't go away.  I set her down and just a few moments later she's crawling on me again.  Probably the worst part is having to type with only one finger at a time.

Wasn't that an interesting paragraph?? ;)  She finally has gotten off me and hasn't come back, so I can type with both hands and all my fingers now. ;D

BK, I hope that both you and Guy Haines both get all the beauty rest that you need for the recording!

Hello all!

My exciting news of the day is yesterday I signed up to support a foundation that raises money for Neurofibromatosis (which is a genetic disease I have) through running my marathon. I am using justgiving.com and so far I have raised $65. I am excited and I am hoping to reach at least $250.

May also happens to be Neurofibromatosis Awareness Month so it seems fitting that I am raising money for it through a a marathon in May. I know three weeks isn't much time to raise money, but I figure whatever I can raise is going to do good somehow. I did my last long run before the marathon (18 miles) today so now I get to take it easier these next three weeks before the marathon. I am probably going to try to raise money for them again with another marathon. If you raise $3500 they will pay your airfare to and from any marathon you choose. So I am hoping to exceed that goal next school year.

Well...The Colossus of Rhodes was tacky fun.  Though Rory's vaseline pompadour and white Nancy Sinatra go-go boots were not very Grecian.  I also liked the way they kept calling him "young Greek"...He did not look all that young.  His character is a rather stupid hero who makes lots of mistakes, like telling his allies, "I'm going to find the daughter of the architect of the Colossus to see about how to get into the Colossus."  A little oversight that costs his allies many casualties...especially when the daughter turns out to be a traitor...which I saw coming a mile off, but our intrepid hero didn't.  And then he's tied up in the climax of the movie.  His allies can't get the door open and they both have to wait for the deus ex machina of all time...an earthquake...to bail them out.  Rory doesn't even get to dispatch the villain in a climatic duel...It goes to like a second level sidekick.

Well, DR CP, is correct in that COLOSSUS OF RHODES had all those and OTHER problems, but it sure was BIG.  And we never did see Rory get out of the Colossus, all of sudden he was running around the city.  Would have been nice to have a shot of him running down the stairs and out the door, at least.

And I liked the guy who went inside the Colossus with him, but I can't find him in the credits, so there you are.

And I did like the dying line of the traitor/girlfriend:  "Funny.  I wanted so much.  And I die with.....nothing."  Nice dress, though.

Good morning, all!  This could be a testy day:  I'm off to Tams-Witmark to begin new work on THE GOLDEN APPLE, which gets a concert performance(s?) this summer at Bard College.  I'm helping Jonathan Tunick with the music prep, and I have to commence corrections on the concert parts.  It's been about two years since I worked on a new GOLDEN APPLE vocal score, and I need to get inside the piece again.  It gives me a chance to put a final polish on a work I'm very fond of, and I suspect this will occupy a bit of my summer months as well.

TOD:  Five-ten years ago, when Robert Sean Leonard was younger, LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL would have been my proposed revival.  He would have been the perfect Eugene Gant.

Welcome back to all our returnees.

I am ticketed for Anthony's show this Saturday, May 7th and I hope I will be attending with the suave and debonair Mr. Larry Moore.

I am also ticketed for Anthony's show next Saturday, May 14th and I should be attending with the lovely and sparkling Deb Vixmom and her hubby Mr. Vixmom and daughter Vixter.

Spelling Bee re-opened last night to the same good reviews it got Off-Broadway. I hope to see it in the next week. I haven't been able to score a ticket yet.

I must wash my oatmeal bowl and begin the day.

Hello to Larry and Ginny (who isn't usually here this early in the morning)

Hello to Larry and Ginny (who isn't usually here this early in the morning)

Hi, Ben.  You're right, I'm here earlier than usual today.  Before I go to work (at noon), I have to go vote in our special election.  There's a very critical local school levy on the ballot, which we hope passes for the sake of my husband's retirement job and the value of our house.  School funding in Ohio is such a mess that there are more than 200 levies being voted on today.  Vibes would be appreciated.

DR Cillaliz - Nice to have you back.  Sorry I was a wuss last night and missed your return online.  I like your new photo.

Welcome back to DR Rodzinski, too.  You got away the other night before I had a chance to say "Good-bye."

Thanks DR Ginny, good to be back. The photo didn't reduce too well, but I decided to use it anyway. It was taken on the Brooklyn Bridge a couple weeks ago

'morning, DR elmore!  The other thing I'm trying to do this morning is get a little package ready to mail to you!  Thanks for the election vibes.

2 things I forgot to mention earlier:

1)  The recording updates from BK are very illuminating to a humble listener like myself.  I had no idea how the process worked.  Continued good vibes for Guy Haines and the others.

2)  Anthony's show sounds like something I'd like very much.  I wish I could help Ben come up with a reason to see it yet another time!

I hope Vinnie continues to be in good voice.  Tell him to not talk too much until the recording is over.  You know that Vinnie.

I'd like to see a revival of "Inherit the Wind."  It's  quite entertaining and amazingly still relevant.  I'm not sure who I'd cast.

Good Morning!

Well, after the last couple of days of packing and packing and packing... I have a few Bags O' Stuff myself.  Well, some of them are more like Bags O' Crap - meaning bags of DETRITUS (a former Word of the Day) - I am not a COCROPHILIAC (is that the way to spell that?)  -Well, maybe we'll have the jokes again - it's been awhile.  In any case...

I slept very well, and I'm up.  I've already had my breakfast, and in a few I shall head back over to my old place for the final bit of packing and sorting.  I also have to make a run to my storage place as well as Diversity Thrift (again).  Then sound check at 4:00...

So...

As for shows that I'd like to see revived...  Even though there have been some "major" concert versions in recent years, I would still like to see a full-scale revival of Pippin.  As for casting, hmm... I shall have to think on that one...

As for a play, it's been a while for Deathtrap.  For something more "vintage"  - The Teahouse of the August Moon - I just remember reading it in high school - along with Mr. Roberts (I really wanted to see the recent production at the Kennedy Center.)

OK...
