Power is back. But for how long? An ice storm alert for San Antonio and Austin is in effect until Thursday.

Wednesday morning greetings!  No new snow here today, but it sure is c-c-c-cold.  The skies are clear and the sun is shining, but don't let that fool you.

Well, today on my trip to the pharmacy, I had my first robber taxi driver.  He was very friendly and we had a nice conversation on the way.  When I tried to pay him, he told me the automated credit card device wasn't working and he needed my debit card.  I gave it to him and he entered the info.  He gave me a receipt for $9.70 without the usual info such as his taxi number, date, mileage, etc.

I kept asking him how he was going to enter the $3.00 tip, and he said not to worry about.

So, I went into the pharmacy and picked up my meds.  The staff and I joked about how much he actually entered, and I said he was probably off to Florida by now on my debit card.  I told them that when I got home, I'd check my bank account online and see if I was charged $9.70 or something else.  Well, the bastard gave himself a $20.00 tip. $29.70 was charged to his cab.

I just got off the phone with my bank from filing a complaint.

THAT'S HORRIBLE.

Is the bank certain that he doesn't retain information that would enable him to do more harm? Is there any way in the world for them to cancel the $20.00 ripoff, or even the whole transaction?

I agree -  cancel the whole transaction and ask the bank to change your debit card number.

Once again, some great sleuthing on BK's part.

I never knew Kentucky Boys, but I am so delighted to see CHILI SIZE on their signage. I'm glad TCB asked about it.

In all of my years away from Southern California, I had forgotten all about it. I don't think I've ever come across that anywhere but there. And it wasn't until a few years ago when I found some grabs of Hamburger Hamlet menus that I was reunited with it. The Hamlet is very likely where I had it most, but in my memory it was always delicious. It's just one of those wonderful L.A. things. And how great to see it advertised on the building like that.

There are so many places in my own youth that I wish I had photos of. What a great find.

It really is a weird term when you're new to it. But it quickly becomes just another "thing" once you're there.

Oh the mail truck's parked in the middle of the street.

This needs to be accompanied by banjo, washboard, and here and there a jew's harp.

This must be sung to the tune of Mr. Perry Como's song: "The railroad goes through the middle of the house....."

Perry Como?

Thanks, DR elmore3003!  Oh yes, I'm fine. I'm feeling some weirdness in my hands. I suspect I'm clenching unconsciously during the night. I think a brace might help.

I hope you solve the problem.

Some weird things are going on with my hands. I'm considering becoming a hand model buying a wrist brace.

I’m not going out in it. I was supposed to usher for the symphony Friday night, but I canceled that. Too much unknown.

Since I have a hard time sleeping without the machine, I read a Zola novel on my Kindle for hours. Une page d’amour. It’s dreadful. I think it’s the translation. Unfortunately, it’s also the 10th in a series of 20 and I have been reading them in order.
