Had a good Zoom Kritzerland rehearsal, picked up a package, and am just about to partake of the barbecue that came a few days ago. Smells great.

What is so sad about All the President's Men is the way the lies keep proliferating when people are faced with the truth. It was the beginning of the "it's not true if we don't like it" era we live in.

I didn't have to see John McMartin's face to realize he's in this movie. I heard that voice and thought, "Benjamin Stone!"

I am glad I switched to my rain pants to walk this afternoon.  Still I came in sooner than I planned after it began raining.  I was already pretty soaked by the time I reached home.  It was nothing compared to what hit shortly after I was inside, a mix of hard rain and hail.

Ate the barbecue. The chopped meat was pretty good - I ended up putting it on hamburger buns for two sandwiches. Burnt ends - only had three, not really my thing. The beans were weird but pretty good. I have a large portion to my neighbor in the back and Grant took 90% of the burnt ends.

Not sure if I'm in the mood for Ma Rainey's - may have to wait until Tuesday.

Monday is the birthday of actress CLAIRE TREVOR, who just happens to be the newest subject in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS collection of stage plays.

The late actress appeared in many film classics, including DEAD END, STAGECOACH, KEY LARGO, for which she won an Academy Award, and THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY.

I was lucky enough to know her and her husband, Milton Bren.  In fact, I interviewed her at her Newport Beach home in 1974 for CORONET magazine.

CLAIRE TREVOR, my one-woman stage play, is available in paperback and Kindle editions via Amazon and other booksellers.  Performance rights are available.

Well, this morning I want the shipping company Chewy.com uses to go go bankrupt and fold.  I took the recyclables to the basement and then stopped on the first floor to pick up packages.  I had a couple of Amazon deliveries, and two Chewy.com carton, one containing kitty treats and the other containing a 13 lb bag of Meow Mix and a carton of Fancy Feast grilled tuna.  The sonofabitch who delivered them left them not where most packages are dropped off by the mailboxes but just inside the front door at the foot of five steps up to the lobby.

So I had to attempt to lug two cartons up five steps, maintain my balance, and forget about the painful hell on my legs.  The larger, heavier carton was open at one end and a second carton of Fancy Feast cans was missing.  I am not happy since this is about the fourth or fifth shipment in a row that has arrived looking as though it's been resealed and missing items.  Chewy/cp, has been great and speedy ion shipping replacements at no charge, but this is getting ridiculous.

That's terrible about the multiple damaged packages, and having to lug them up the stairs! >:(

Chewy.com is a standout in this sorry world. We buy quite a bit at stores, but I think every order from there has gotten here the next day, and their customer service is great if you need it.

Of course deliveries are no problem because it's just to a house, so no lobby or other public area complications.

I love Chewy.com!  They just replaced my entire order at no charge, even though I'm only missing the 24 cans of tuna. morsels.

That's fantastic!  Nothing better than good customer service! :)

My horoscope says I’m going to receive plural marriage proposals today. So, wish me luck. Maybe I’ll even know the people.

Found a copy of this 1929 cookbook in my collection. It seems to be a first edition and in near mint condition.

The cover is offensive, to be sure, and the little I read inside it was appalling. It's a cookbook featuring black cooks' recipes as shared by a very entitled white employer. You know, the type that could never remember the real name of the cook, so she called them all Mandy.

Anyway, a copy of this is going for $350 online. I doubt I'd get a tenth of that.

Thank you. It was the first proposal. But, as the song says, bigamy's not big of me, and it's not big of you.

Oh My God.

We do have an immersion blender. Maybe not the best one, but who knows. Because guess what?
I just checked with the 'mates, and:

We'll have to look for it.

I got one about 20 years ago, but didn't use it much at all, so I brought it to work so the my friend Margo (we originally met at work) could use it for her then meal-replacement-shakes for lunches, but then her position was eliminated, but I forgot about it.  I finally noticed that it was still at work a couple of years ago and brought it home.
