According to Wikipedia, here are all of the operas by Richard Rodney Bennett:

The Ledge (libretto by Adrian Mitchell) – 1961
  • Victory (libretto by Beverley Cross) – 1970

Okay, Michael Shayne, I'll put that up and you can grab it.

Offer more than one, please.

Indeed.

I love this description of The Mines of Sulphur from the publisher's website:

Part eerie ghost story, part murder mystery, Sir Richard Rodney Bennett’s opera The Mines of Sulphur made a triumphant eleventh hour addition to Glimmerglass Opera’s 2004 festival season in Cooperstown, New York. Commissioned by Sadler’s Wells in 1965, Bennett’s opera with its richly coloured score was widely acclaimed at the time of its premičre but fell into eclipse shortly after. It was such a wonderful surprise to witness a new life for this work, says the composer, and in such a marvellous new production. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Glimmerglass music director Stewart Robertson remembered the opera from his student days in Glasgow and suggested it when the scheduled premičre at the festival of a commissioned work was postponed. The gothic tale takes place in an 18th-century English country house where the wealthy landowner, Braxton, has been murdered by a vagabond trio of outcasts. A travelling band of actors arrives unexpectedly seeking shelter and enacts a play that reveals the treachery. But who are these actors really and what else have they wrought upon the household? As Shakespeare wrote in Othello, Dangerous conceits are, in their natures, poisons…[and] burn like the mines of sulphur. A riveting climax ensues.

Thank you for all the vibes. My ultrasound went smoothly -- no real surprises -- and I drove through BK's old neighborhood on the way home from Beverly Hills. I treated myself to a Julie's Gone Green (take-out) lunch. Glad to have it done, one more step along what's turned out to be a long journey.

The Get My Payment apparatus still does not have enough information to tell me when my payment will be in my hands.

Same here.

I noticed a lot more traffic today. People here are definitely getting out more. I'm pleased to see more business at restaurants, but dread the return of "normal" traffic.

Continued vibes for Indiegogo.

I do like TCB's idea. Since it's streaming, the singers don't need to be local. I know BK's used NY singers for some of the shows, but I really hadn't thought of how this really opens things up.

I think the TurboTax hamster was really tired. It took forever to do the last three or four steps. One took more than 10 minutes. Plus, the instructions were just not as clear. I had to use other screens to get answers to questions. I had a 1095-C, but they were only asking for 1095-A. They should tell you that it doesn't matter if you have any other form.

Indiana has now opened up the vaccinations for folks 45 years old and up.

It is nice to see the age dropping.

Here we are at 65+.

Can't even get us to 60% today - that's exactly ONE percent from where we currently are. This is, frankly, concerning. Not sure what to do about it, but I really don't want to have to wait until the last second to fund because that means we won't cover our fees. And there will be hell toupee if we fall short of funding. I'm actually shocked the Theatre World photos, all originals, have not gone - they are PRICELESS and I really had to push myself to put them up as perks.

HA!  I spent part of the day on Facebook.  Last month some fool posted in the "You must have grown up in Mooresville" group that he remembered when Michael Landon visited.

All kinds of folks chimed in with MUCH misinformation....but the kicker was the fool who wrote that Landon and Barbara Eden were BOTH here that day and that his father drove them around town in his convertible.

Today, I posted news photos of BOTH visits that happened to be a year apart....Landon in 1967 and Eden in 1968.

The fool never acknowledged his error but claimed ALL THREE stars of Bonanza were at Paul Hadley Junior High School in 1963 and he met them all and his dad drove them around as well.  I just posted that there was no news story about it.....and PHJHS didn't open until 1966.

Settling in with the director's cut of The Masque of Red Death. Vincent Price is wonderful. The movie looks great. I find it funny that the intro talked about all these cuts that the censors made back then and how they'd all been restored. The cut running length was 88 minutes. The restored running length is 89 minutes.
