I don't think I ever tried a powdered toothpaste.
As I recall, my parents always bought Crest, but I'm checking a site that lists old toothpastes and I think we occasionally had Ipana or Gleem. Those are names I haven't heard or thought of in half a century. At some point we must have tried Pearl Drops Tooth Polish that came in a little bottle, and I distinctly remember really liking the taste and the feel of that one. Don't know why I didn't just continue with it.
I have no memory of what I used in college or in my first years after school, but at some point I decided the old Crest-like flavors were boring and I changed to Colgate. Years later my now-current dentist started me on a prescription toothpaste just because she thinks it's better than any of the standard ones. I'm out of it at present and have never been able to remember what it's called. But I'm not choosey and when I'm out of the prescription stuff I use whatever. I like the Arm & Hammer ones as well as my standard Colgate.
