To this day, EVERY time I read or hear the phrase "Out on a Limb," I instantly think of "Out on a Limerick" from The Mystery of Edwin Drood!

I am awake, but my timing is off this morning. I had a weird dream about the play Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme, which has a character with my name. As Bertolt Brecht once wrote, Oh, don't ask why.

I've had the good fortune to perform Alexander Nevsky. I've always said that the best part of singing in the chorus for that is that you get to sit on the stage, in the midst of the orchestra, during the Battle on the Ice.

As I recall, we had coaching cassettes for the Russian pronunciation.

Never used a toothpaste powder. I remember when Aim came in with colors added to regular paste. That’s the big innovation from my youth.

I don't think I ever tried a powdered toothpaste.

As I recall, my parents always bought Crest, but I'm checking a site that lists old toothpastes and I think we occasionally had Ipana or Gleem. Those are names I haven't heard or thought of in half a century. At some point we must have tried Pearl Drops Tooth Polish that came in a little bottle, and I distinctly remember really liking the taste and the feel of that one. Don't know why I didn't just continue with it.

I have no memory of what I used in college or in my first years after school, but at some point I decided the old Crest-like flavors were boring and I changed to Colgate. Years later my now-current dentist started me on a prescription toothpaste just because she thinks it's better than any of the standard ones. I'm out of it at present and have never been able to remember what it's called. But I'm not choosey and when I'm out of the prescription stuff I use whatever. I like the Arm & Hammer ones as well as my standard Colgate.

Well the sound person is INDEED the sound person....and actually DR singdaw for my 20 seconds onstage I would like to be seen AND heard.

Last night, the Bishop and I came to a standstill.  I held out my hand for him to kiss my ring and he did the same.....it was quite the moment.

I think tonight I will end it with a Jack Benny hand to the face and audience stare.....

My Welsh/English grandfather was a stage manager.  I know that at one time he toured with a show in the States.  Sadly I do not have a single photo of him.
