As warned the insurance company was slow and then a discrepancy in the estimate cost had to be negotiated.

Friday afternoon greetings!  When we got home yesterday our neighbor Rosie brought over the mail and papers she'd collected for us and told us that our neighbor Marilyn had passed away on Tuesday.  We're about to go to her funeral.

Do I know Marilyn? I think I might.

DR George I expected if anyone had read Project Hail Mary it would have been you.

Well, I guess I'll read it next.  I have only 10% left of my current book, but it's a longish book, so it's taking me longer to get through it.

Goodreads says the hardcover is 476 pages.  I might also make it my next book, if reading it on my tablet doesn't mess up Keith's book mark on his tablet.  It used to but I think they fixed that issue.

The book I am reading is about the Nazi movement during WW2 in Los Angeles.  How did I not know about this bit of history!

It is disturbing as it is too similar to what is happening today.

Doing a bit of research I found a non-fiction book on the subject,
Hitler in Los Angeles: How Jews Foiled Nazi Plots Against Hollywood and America.

https://www.bloomsbury.com/us/hitler-in-los-angeles-9781620405642/

The chilling, little-known story of the rise of Nazism in Los Angeles, and the Jewish leaders and spies they recruited who stopped it.

No American city was more important to the Nazis than Los Angeles, home to Hollywood, the greatest propaganda machine in the world. The Nazis plotted to kill the city's Jews and to sabotage the nation's military installations: plans existed for hanging twenty prominent Hollywood figures such as Al Jolson, Charlie Chaplin, and Samuel Goldwyn; for driving through Boyle Heights and machine-gunning as many Jews as possible; and for blowing up defense installations and seizing munitions from National Guard armories along the Pacific Coast.

U.S. law enforcement agencies were not paying close attention--preferring to monitor Reds rather than Nazis--and only Leon Lewis and his daring ring of spies stood in the way. From 1933 until the end of World War II, attorney Leon Lewis, the man Nazis would come to call "the most dangerous Jew in Los Angeles," ran a spy operation comprised of military veterans and their wives who infiltrated every Nazi and fascist group in Los Angeles. Often rising to leadership positions, this daring ring of spies uncovered and foiled the Nazi's disturbing plans for death and destruction.

Featuring a large cast of Nazis, undercover agents, and colorful supporting players, Hitler in Los Angeles, by acclaimed historian Steven J. Ross, tells the story of Lewis's daring spy network in a time when hate groups had moved from the margins to the mainstream.

I'm up, I'm up - I went back to bed at seven-thirty and slept until noon. My twenty-four hour Claritin-D is not working as well as it should, but I can't take another one for at least twelve hours. Four-and-a-half hours of sleep - not good at all. And tomorrow is Evil Eye day so I have to be up at eight-thirty. I can sleep until eleven-thirty on Sunday, so that's good, and Monday is mine.

Amazing!  I'll have to see if there's a Kindle version.

There is, but my library hasn't purchased it for OverDrive.  I did recommend it, though, so we'll see if they buy it. :)

My library has it so I put it on my wish list.  Pierce didn't have the author at all.

Congratulations to DR GEORGE on getting HEAD.

And since this is a family site - you will have to read yesterday's posts to understand that.

I am trying to decide on some pre-show and intermission music for JOSEPH.

I don't want to use music from the show - so I would like the opinion of the others here on what might be used.  I have sort of settled on EPIC biblical/historical movies like The Ten Commandments and Solomon & Sheba & Cleopatra.....but any suggestions would be welcome.

We usually start the preshow music about 30 minutes before curtain and of course the intermission music is played during the 15-minute intermission.....

Yes, DR Elmore, she was a close friend of Nancy who used to live in our house.  She often helped Nancy with the great cast parties we had here.

Thank you for your expressions of sympathy at Marilyn’s passing.  Her service was very sweet, beginning with the ritual conducted by a group of sorority sisters (many of whom are friends of mine).

We were warned that they are all slow these days because it is done with emails and photos vs an agent going to the body shop and writing up the estimate and coming to an agreement right then.
