Every other treadmill was being used today at the gym, which meant I had to use one next to someone else. I wore my mask for about 15 minutes, until the other person was conveniently done.

Last Sunday the problems with my right eye got much worse and I was having trouble seeing enough to read. I was hoping it would settle down, and it did -- a bit. But yesterday I was getting worried and called the ophthalmologist. I didn't think it necessitated an ER visit, but did feel someone needed to check it out. The ophthalmologist agreed, but couldn't fit me in today--he had THIRTY patients scheduled! He suggested I see another doctor there, an optometrist, to dilate me and take a look.

The office called this morning and said that Dr Lee (the OD) could see me. I had a little free time so I called my insurance company. Apparently, for anything urgent you're expected to go to Urgent Care or the ER and she wasn't at all sure that the insurance would cover today's visit. What?! I needed a referral from my primary care physician, which had to go through TODAY. Fortunately it did so, but this is one of those things that works fine in theory, but not always in practice. ER waits are notoriously long -- five hours is typical here -- and UC doesn't have ophthalmologists. Plus, I'd be near sick people.

Remember, DR Jane, we live in a very small city and have been here a long time. It stands to reason that the teachers, librarians, physicians, attorneys, etc. would know each other.

I Ubered over to Beverly Hills and saw Dr Lee. We tried to sort out my symptoms and she's good about answering questions -- a requirement in my book. However, as she was opening an alcohol wipe the alcohol squired in several directions, including into my right eye. Now that stung! She had to rinse out my eye, gave me a couple packs of artificial tears, and instructed me to rinse my eye every few hours for the rest of today.

She didn't see any problems other than the existing ones, but I will need to keep an eye on things, so to speak. And she agreed that it's best to call them if I have an issue, not ER or UC.

With my current eye problems I can relate to this though I have not been that bad. Sleep makes a big difference for me. I hope it isn't serious and your vision improves.
