Me, at the Murray's counter:

Um, I'll have one each of everything...

Speaking of mamas:  hope yours is happy and settling in, DR John G.

She is, but things will be different when my sisters and I have left.

I'm slightly groggy from having blessed myself with a Benadryl sleep last night.

And I have just enjoyed a couple of cheap little danishes, the perfect sweet but not too sweet eye-openers.

More coffee!

I hope DR Elmore's Access-a-Ride went swimmingly, even if early, today.

I didn't know what sable was, in this context, either.

But I am wowed by that menu. I'd love to try a lox and bagel, or smoked salmon and bagel, from there sometime. Among many other things.

So FINALLY (like I've been looking forward to it?) we get our heat wave, starting today.

One site I've looked at is calling for 92 today, 96 tomorrow, 96 on Friday, then all the way back down to 87 on Saturday. Should be an interesting ride.

I remember the name Bubble-Up but not what it tastes like, but yes, obviously a 7-Up type of thing. I was never crazy about that variety of soft drinks (colas and root beers for me, thankyouverymuch), but I certainly drank whatever my folks brought home.

Very sorry to hear about the fate of the Sportsman's Lodge. I was always intrigued by it, but was never in it.

They also just demolished a similarly iconic structure on what had been a great little stretch of PCH in Redondo Beach. Or Torrance, actually, just over the line. No matter. The beauties of the twentieth century are being wiped out as quickly as they can get around to all of them.

EVERY city is horrible with this, but L.A. is one of the worst at preserving anything.

Is there ANY blues song that doesn't start with the lyric, "Woke up this mornin'..."       :)

Wow! Today's Access-a-Ride was amazing! Let's review:
original appointment @ 10:15, scheduled pickup time  8:29
                                             scheduled return time 11:15

Driver arrived @ 8:25, arrived at appointment 8:50
Saw doctor at 9:10
I called Access-a-Ride yo see if I could get earlier pickup at 9:37
Picked up at 10:15

It was fantastic!

I am relieved that you finally received some decent assistance, DR elmore3003.

Perhaps DR ChasSmith was right; they now have a mark next to your name that you'd better get damned good service.

Of all my Indiegogo loot, I am especially excited to listen to the recording of Bernhard Herrmann's Wuthering Heights.

DR JANE the front page was all blurry and you had to scroll down and it's on the right.  They make it unreadable so you have to buy a subscription....but the headline was SORT OF there.

I looked again.  Sort of doesn't work for my eyes.  Oh well.

I have many, many memories of the Sportsmen’s Lodge.  I did not know that the hotel was not torn down with the rest of the complex.  I went to the website and see that it is currently closed due to covid.  I hope it will reopen.

The best time we had staying at the hotel was for our 30th reunion.  Lots of classmates stayed.  Many were in the patio rooms around the pool.  We kept running into friends during our stay.

The food wasn't very good, otherwise the reunion was great fun.

After the reunion many of us stayed in the lobby chatting and then walked down to Jerry's Deli to eat and visit more.  Bruce, am I correct that it was Jerry's down the road from the Lodge?
