I am happy to hear that DR CHAS SMITH is starting rehearsal.

I am even happier to say that after only two more performances, my theatre work will be done for the summer.....started in April....so it's been SIX months!

Of course the usual bored work will continue apace but no more DRIVING 70 miles a day......

Friday morning greetings!  So, the work that was supposed to begin yesterday on our front porch is now scheduled to begin Monday.  And, we just received a notice from the city that our water will be shut off Monday for about 8 hours beginning at 8am.

DR Laura, here's my friend Adam Grupper in the current My Fair Lady tour.

The day I went to the Broadway "Fiddler" with Cousin Miriam from Scranton, Danny Burstein was out that day.  The box office actually offered  to exchange for another day, it was already too late to get another show, and she'd come in from Scranton  -  and Adam Grupper was going on.  Miriam looked at Adam's photo and said "he looks Jewish enough" -  and decided we should stay.    He was really good, though of course the production had been built around Danny starring.

My piece of unsolicited advice:

Buy a new car and take good care of it.

Except for stuff that wears out, we have only done one real repair on mine. It's a '12. None yet on my DH's '14.

They both had dealer warranty work when they were young, but that's all.

That's my plan.  My Ford Escort is a 1998. :)

very confused but hesitant to join in the castrecl discussion of "Gee, Officer Krupke, Krup you" rather than "F-- you."  and I guess if the profanity should be in the new WSS movie, and Larry, you mention a question of whether the  number will even be in the Spielberg movie.

But doesn't "Gee, Officer Krupke, Krup you" sound clever and funny, though, while conveying the profanity.
while "Gee, Office Krupke, f--- you" is just angry at the end of a fun song.

Meanwhile, my own sister-in-law Lady Macbeth could sing "Define Depravity."

I need this day to end. I’m tired. Think my boss, who yawned loudly in an earlier meeting, would buy that?

I know Sondheim has addressed this, I think in the lyric book. It was originally supposed to be f—k, but folks chickened out. Krup you is funnier because you’re expecting f—k and got something else. It’s like a rhyme that’s unexpected. You expect moon and spoon, but not bassoon.

I agree.  Even though I have no problem with swearing, it is funnier (and I think makes more sense) to have them fake-swear than actually swear...at least, in the stage musical.  The movie can be grittier.

Today's audiences in general might even expect to hear the actual f-word, but to use it in the show would really seem out of place.

But then, that could just be because I've known the show since I discovered musicals and a new line I've never heard would take me out of the moment because it's different than what I was expecting.

I don't recall any swearing in the book for "West Side Story," so why would the Jets suddenly shout "Fuck you"?

I'm going to be looking for a new car soon, and eventual problems with all the newfangled electrical stuff in new cars is something I'm not looking forward to having to deal with.  My current car is 23 years old, and I've really only had mechanical issues because there's not much that's electronic as compared to the new cars of today. :-\

Will you do some online research first?  It might help to have an idea which cars offer what you want and hold up well.

My son bought a car from a rental agency. He started fixing it right away.

We have a friend who used to sell cars before moving to the finance department.  He said the one extended package he felt was needed was a warranty on a used car.  No matter how great the car is at the dealership it could begin having problems as soon as the car leaves the lot.
