Yesterday I started listening to a fun collection of short stories. Well, they were fun until the Thomas Hardy story arrived. Ouch. I think that man was in dire need of an enema. The story was so depressing. And then the heroine died. All too typical.

Got a new cookbook for my birthday, "Beautiful Platters & Delicious Boards." It's all snacks, dips and appetizers that you could use on a charcuterie board. I tried two recipes last night and ate them up today. One was several types of goat cheese with herbs or spices on them and soaked in oil. The other was for a cream cheese and radish dish.

Tomorrow I hope to try two or three more. One is for a shortbread with orange and rosemary in it. Another is for a roasted beet spread. If there's time, spiced almonds will be a third.
