Thanks for posting that, DR George! I never pay attention to how many posts I've made.

You're welcome, Larry!

And the hits just keep on coming: Now the helper's mom says she got it wrong and has to quarantine until next Saturday. What a disaster and I can do nothing about it other than answer the ten irritated e-mails I get every day from irritated people. I think I have to find someone else, but for now I just have to play this stupid waiting game and I've asked for her assurance that she will make this her top priority the minute she's back home.

Sorry.

I'd read a synopsis and liked what I read, so I do plan to read it...eventually.

I found the following on Doerr's website and wish I had read this earlier into reading Cloud Cuckoo Land.

Five years of passing the same people on our walking path we have become friendly with a number of them, especially during quarantine when we were all bored.

One such couple lived in a beautiful home up the hill above us.  They purchased a larger home down the street and spent almost a year renovating it.

Today we walked up and had a tour.  It was amazing, only taking an hour and a half to tour the entire house.

It's none of my business, but I don't think the helper or the helper's mom have served bk especially well over the years, from what I've read.

Anyway, we had a sold-out show today and more than 1,300 people actually showed up.

If people wanted to be considered to be called down to play, they had to check in beforehand.

People started lining up at 1 p.m., two hours before check-in started.

Then they were slowly led into the building where they were ID'd and given their name tag. They were also allowed to buy $30 T-shirts and $25 gimme caps. Gimme, indeed.

This was all done in the small theater. They then had to leave and go around to the main entrance.

I helped people in the elevator who couldn't handle the stairs. Most of them were really nice and excited to be there.

And that energy filled the theater when the game started. I know one woman won a trip to New York City for four days. Another won a refrigerator-freezer.
