Thank you, DR Jane.

For the book suggestions.

And for posting them in separate posts.     :)

Apparently the Elf on the Shelf isn't the only thing you have to watch out for.

It is Thursday here in Johnston SC.

Today promises to be enjoyable.  A friend from Fredericksburg VA is in nearby Edgefield to give expert audio forensics testimony in a murder trial.  He also happens to be the host of one of my weekly Zoom chats and just a heck of a nice guy. We met up a couple of months ago when he was here for pre-trial hearings, and we had lunch.  If all goes well, he will be testifying today, and we shall meet up for dinner.

Other than that, I am hope-hope-hoping that some items I have ordered over the past week -- items that have been shipped -- will arrive in the mail today.

Good wishes for a speedy shipment, DR Ron Pulliam!

I am very curious as well about the trial!

I have seen the video my friend was asked to analyse.  It happened outside the Johnston Billiard Parlor (which is now closed).  A man in a car was being verbally assailed by a man standing outside the car near the entrance to the parlor.  It was a shouting match, apparently, between the owner (man outside) and man in car.   I believe the contention is that the man in the car had been in the parlor and was told to leave.  The owner was furious, evidently,  It is not audible to know what was being said by either man.  The owner would walk away and then come charging back.  He was holding something black in his hand.  He would pull up his shirt and point to something on his belt.  Could not tell if it was a gun or not.  Just when it appeared the confrontation was over and the owner was walking away, he suddenly turned around and charged at the car with his hand holding the unidentifiable object being pointed at the car.  What was visible was two (or three) gun shots fired at the owner.  He fell backward and reportedly died on the scene.

That's all I know. It has taken three years for this to go to trial.  Nobody has said much about it.   If the trial is open to the public I do not know.

So, the bar we were at is tres chichi. A friend ordered several Don Julio Anejo tequila shots without asking the price. Her bill was over $200. It was entered incorrectly, but not by much. She still owed $175 for her food and drinks.

My inner 13-year-old is active today. I was editing some content and came across the phrase “joint holders of the account.” All I could focus on was “joint holders.” I don’t think that’s the image we were going for.

DR JohnG's lists put me to shame. I used to read voraciously, and now I'm lucky to get through a book in six weeks.

The main reason we chose Palm Springs as the warm weather location for my birthday is to spend the with Keith's aunt who is not doing well. It is the only reason we are going to LA.

We will see our brothers and my nephews and nieces. I am sorry this isn't a social visit. Really, in the middle of covid we don't want to be social butterflies.
