I've been reading THE BRAVEST VOICES, an autobiography by Ida Cook. Ida and her sister, Louise, became opera lovers in their twenties and after a few years began to travel to hear their favorite operas. This began in the 1920s. They met many of the world's top singers and became close friends with many of them. The stories are quite incredible. In the late 1930s they became involved in getting Jews, and other who were severely at-risk, out of Germany. These stories are equally incredible. This must be the most heartwarming book I've ever read. Despite the horrors of the Nazis, the commitment of Ida and her sister, the courage, and the cleverness are just awesome.

It was originally published in 1950 as WE FOLLOWED OUR STARS, then in 2008 as SAFE PASSAGE, and lastly, THE BRAVEST VOICES in 2021. There was a film of it, but I haven't been able to find any information of it. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the suggestion.  My library has it.

The Mystery Science Theater flick was a child horror flick from Roland Emmerich called Making Contact. Soooo bad. So funny.

Ushering for Mystery Science Theater 3000. Only abot 350 tickets sold. They will excellent service from us all.

Tonight at the guitar concert, there were about 300 tickets presold.  I don't know what the final door count was, though.

I got to see all of the first half, but because I had to help clean up the concessions bar, I only got to see the last three or so numbers.

All four guitarists were incredible performers in their own right, but together, they were wonderful!

My sister informed me that the site for free covid tests is now up, a day early.

covidtests.gov

I've also seen them available through this site:

https://special.usps.com/testkits

BE CAREFUL!  Don’t sign into any of those sites that don’t end in .gov.

There are a whole slew of scammers that are hoping to snag the unsuspecting.  They are hoping to get information that they can use against you.  They might even manage to get credit card info by claiming that you need to pay for the shipping costs.

No gauze for you, my friend. I used it all up.

Couldn’t he rinse it out and reuse it?

TCB, The Pajama Game is an odd movie. They cut the book so much that it seems like an outline with lots of songs. But when the music starts, I love it.

You are correct about the missing book.  It was almost THE PAJAMA GAME in Concert.

Last week I caught an episode by accident.  I really enjoyed it.  In fact, today I finished binge watching the first 11 episodes.  I like the cast a lot.  Anyway, it is worth a look.

I mostly remember her from Disney's The Black Hole.

But I do remember seeing The Time Machine the first time when I was much younger (and was scared by it!), but I saw Light in the Piazza shortly after the musical opened.  I enjoyed that, too.

It features some early special effects that were pretty cool at the time.

What?  You don't want to hear Roddy McDowell's vocal performance as the voice of a hovering robot??
