Good morning, all.

It is Saturday, January 22nd. You didn't read it here first, but I just had to put it out there and state it, unequivocally.

And there is snow on the ground in Johnston SC.

It's not a lot of snow. Maybe a quarter of an inch, but it's white and it shows. Therefore, it counts.

It will be all gone as soon as the temperature rises above 32 degrees. It is currently 29 degrees.

I woke up at six, turned the heat up a degree or so, visited the necessary, crawled back under the covers, and ended up sleeping in till nine. That was well needed and I feel, well, almost human.

Last night, DR TCB asked, “How big a block of cheese? A pound block? And what exactly is chili sauce? I would love to try these sandwiches.”

DR TCB, for 8 sandwiches I used an 8-ounce block of Tillamook extra sharp cheddar cheese and most of a bottle of the chili sauce that DR George posted last night. What’s left in the bottle will be diluted with water and poured over a meat loaf before baking.

Last time I was in Palm Springs was at the end of the year 1988. Well, my goodness, that was a few years ago. Having been bought by some company headquartered in a town called Danbury, Connecticut, we threw our last big holiday bash in Palm Desert.

Always enjoyed driving out there for whatever reason. Can you still see dinosaurs in the Banning Pass? Yes, looks like it. In Cabazon, to be exact.

Ah, I can smell the corned beef hash cooking. This morning’s comfort food. Just the canned variety this time. We like it, fried till there’s a nice crisp (but not too much) to it.
