FWIW, my allergist was in the Navy for seven years and served as an aerospace medical officer.

I really need to flaunt my military credentials more often.

I finally connected with a lady who promised to call me back if the phone went dead. By then it was around 2:15. After a pause, she told me there would be a car in four minutes. 2:30 came and went, and I called AAR again. I was told there would be a car in ten minutes. I walked to the corner and spent $18.00 on a taxi. I was past 3:00 when I walked into the apartment, 90 minutes after my scheduled ride.

I noticed on Facebook that a friend I had made in Vicenza, Italy, was also friends with someone I had made friends with in Athens, Greece.  I messaged her and asked her how she knew my friend from Greece.  (The italy friend was in the Army, and the Greece friend had been in the Navy -- neither were co-located at the time).

Instead of a message reply, I got a message CALL!!!  My Italy friend was out walking her dogs somewhere in Virginia (I don't recall her city location) and decided to call me.  What fun!  I hadn't spoken to her since 1975, atlhough we have been FB friends for years.

She met my Greece friend after she and her husband settled in Virginia when he retired.  My Greece friend lives nearby and they got involved in a former military member support group.

Small world.

Small, wonderful world :)

Oh, Elmore. If I could, I'd be more than happy to take you to the doctor's appointments.

I don't think ANYONE would want me to be driving in New York City traffic.

So, we are going on vacation soon. It was my goal to be able to wear the pants with all the pockets, since I hate carrying a purse.

So I cut out meat, cheese, butter, alcohol, and most fatty foods from my diet.

I also upped my walking from four to fives miles per day.

I'm up, I'm up - nine and a half hours of sleep and for the last hour I've been dealing with emails - I'm beginning to think we'll never find a cast for this show.

;D

I drove in NYC once, it was not fun.  I was with Susan Gordon and she directed me while I watched the traffic.

I am so very sorry.  Have you tried the pants on?  It is possible you have more muscle to fat and they will actually fit.

I love my pants with lots of pockets to stash stuff in.  When we travel I still use my cross shoulder bag.

One thing I forgot about my appointment this morning:

When I was weighed, they asked me what my normal weight was.  I responded honestly.

I was 25 pounds UNDER that weight.

Golly.

I've always found getting used to a new car a bit tricky, especially when doing something like backing up. In fact, when I buy a  new-to-me car I'll go to a relatively empty parking lot that has lines to mark the spaces and pull into a space, trying to be right in the middle. Then I get out and check. Just one of the reasons I prefer to keep my cars a long, long time.

Access-a-Ride is a very good idea in concept, but in execution it seems to fail the very people who really do need support.

So sorry, Larry. You, and all other patients, deserve better.

Well I always take my change to use at the self checkout.

Today I put in the change and then a $20 bill.  My change was to be $8.

The machine gave me a five dollar bill and $3 in dimes and quarters.

How strange.
