Yesterday something reminded me of a book from 2015 that I'd heard of but had never acquired - Tales from the Locker Room, in which Cleveland Orchestra members talk about their years playing under George Szell. I downloaded the Kindle for a few bucks, thinking that if it turned out to be a really great book, I'd get a hard copy sometime. Well, the Kindle is enough. I'll enjoy reading it, but it's going to be a quick one. As is sometimes the case with these things, it's a local (Cleveland) publication that leaves you wanting a lot more. In a couple of cases, someone provides comments for a deceased player, but there are several notable people for whom representation is sorely lacking. Anyway, we shall see.
