Lounged around a bit longer than usual this morning.

Because I can. No rehearsal tonight!

Yesterday something reminded me of a book from 2015 that I'd heard of but had never acquired - Tales from the Locker Room, in which Cleveland Orchestra members talk about their years playing under George Szell. I downloaded the Kindle for a few bucks, thinking that if it turned out to be a really great book, I'd get a hard copy sometime. Well, the Kindle is enough. I'll enjoy reading it, but it's going to be a quick one. As is sometimes the case with these things, it's a local (Cleveland) publication that leaves you wanting a lot more. In a couple of cases, someone provides comments for a deceased player, but there are several notable people for whom representation is sorely lacking. Anyway, we shall see.

Coffee and fresh baked cookies, DR Jrand71.

According to legend, at least, those are the smells you want wafting through a house being shown!

Miss Cindy Williams was to have been in town this Saturday, but the show has been postponed until September. Bummer.

Ask BK:

I know you don't have L.A. all cast yet, but who from the original will be in the revival? I gather Yacko won't be? How about the wrestlers? Is Richard going to MD again?

I hope C.C. Brown's is still in. And the Black Dahlia number. And the Sunset Strip. I'm just naming a few favorites by memory. Looking forward to seeing the lineup.

DR JANE  ENQUIRING minds want to know about your meeting with Jim Hutton.

We were in a long line at Nate 'n Al's to pick up food from the deli line.  Keith & this woman waiting next to us were wearing the same shirt.  Jokes between her husband & Keith began.  We had a great time laughing and chatting with the couple who were on their way to a picnic.  When they went to the leave Keith turned to me and said that was Jim Hutton.  He looked so sexy I didn't recognize him.  Of course I ran over before they left and told him I was a big fan.

From DR Singdaw:

Quote
A friend of mine was trying to make special Valentine's Day cookies. But he couldn't find the bags of red M&Ms in the store. So he bought several bags of the regular M&Ms, and picked out all the red ones.

I just found out that he sent all the leftovers of the other colors to me in the mail.

This is funny, and a fun surprise.

The warning light came on that a tire was leaking air.  We pulled into the parking area of the building next to ours to check it out.  There is a nail in our front right tire.  We came right back to our building.  We parked up top instead of in our underground garage.  I figure that will be easier for changing the tire.  Now Keith is trying to find a new tire and find out if we have some kind of warranty on the old one.

I went down to the garage to check if there were any nails on the ground.  I saw our neighbor on his way to the gym & told him what happened.  He had me walk ahead of him looking for nails, then stopped to look at the tire.

Sadly, no one from the original cast is in the new production - I offered but everyone is just too too busy to even think about such things. As to songs, the only cut songs at this moment in time are Jackie-O and The 1962 Dodgers, both by Paul Gordon. Two new songs go in those slots, and we may have one additional song if the writers ever get around to writing it.

I loved that book and would be very interested in this.

I also really liked the movie, except for how they spoiled an incredible revelation by SHOWING it to the audience in advance of how it was presented in the book. I was furious at how they blew that. At least that's what I thought at the time. I haven't read or seen it since back then (early aughts?), so I might view it differently now. But somehow I don't think so.

Poor Keith out in the cold dealing with the car.  At least he doesn't have to change the tire.  Someone is coming to do that.

It is nice having Keith around to do all the things I had to deal with when he traveled for work.  Well, I never changed a flat tire.

Once I drove a couple of miles to the gas station with a smoking tire.  How the rim wasn't ruined I will never know.  I really had no choice but to drive the car after the tire blew, it was unsafe to stop.  Fortunately I knew where to go as we were close to home.
