It was fun

On the way home I realized one of the sad effects of the pandemic on Long Island

I spent my life taking for granted that there would always be a place where one could go with a group of friends at 3 am and order

Eggs over easy with sausage ir bacon that Wouk’s be served with home fries abd toast

Cheeseburger deluxe which Wouk’s come with a boatload of steak fries, a bowl of coleslaw abd a couple of whole dill pickles

Chicken francese in portions large enough to feed three

And a twin lobster dinner




Or any of 100 any entrees or desserts



But alas the 24 hour diner seems to be no more.

Between 11 and 11:20 pm I passed three such diners I frequented in the past and they were all locked up tight, with dark windows and empty parking lots


Now you can only enjoy good LI diner food between 7 am to 10



It makes me sad

Alternately , if you can wait until this evening ( visiting hours end at 6) I’ll come in and notarize your POA and we can go to dinner to celebrate

Oh, I would love that, but I have to get the notarized power of attorney into Fed Ex this morning for Monday delivery.

But he didn’t need a transfusion for the first time yesterday so they think the source if the bleed is self healing.of course they still want to find it so it doesn’t happen again

This news makes me very happy.

The notary at my bank ids away until June, which is ridiculous.

So, at 10am I can call Chase and Citibank to see if a notoary is on staff today.

I'm still in shock that we actually sold that white elephant yesterday, although my pessimistic nature waits for the deal to fall through. I'll believe it when the check arrives.

Following four straight days of highs in the 90s here, today's high is predicted to be 87.  Thunderstorms are called for.

Right now, though, the sky is blue and the sun is shining brightly.

I called Fed Ex: no notary.

However, the UPS store at 79th and Broadeway claims to have one. I'll call at 10:00 to see if that's true.

Sadly, we lost the chance to get a good bit of money because of two brothers who foolishly thought they would get more if we waited. However, a sum will be put aside for me, another sum for the cats' care, and then I'll pay off my bills.

Last night instead of sitting in an empty house I went ( with Vixdad’s blessing) to see a play written by a dear friend of ours ( in fact his wife is the one responsible for Vixdad and I meeting) , performed in a local community theatre

I am glad you had fun last night as I am sure Vixdad is also pleased.
