Could that be the comedy THE GRASS IS GREENER with Robert Mitchum, Cary Grant, Jean Simmons and Deborah Kerr? I saw it about 100 years ago and remember nothing about it.
While I won't refute the possibility of your having seen something 100 years ago, I will say that "The Grass is Greener" was considerably later than that...1960, I believe.
And you don't remember much because it didn't offer much to remember. Grant and Kerr were married and landed gentry and all that sort of thing, dontchaknow...Jean Simmons was wasted as friend of the family, and Robert Mitchum, bless his heart, was only marginally convincing (to me) as a possible lover for Kerr (the same Kerr I had adored as Mrs. Anna and Sister Angela and Terry McKay, the cabaret singer who was crippled because she was "looking up..."). I just couldn't imagine her preferring Mitchum over Grant.
The worst part about it, though, is that this was a Stanley Donen film. I can only imagine he did it to satisfy the terms of some contractual agreement.
By the way, for those of you for whom it may not be too late, I have heard recently that people who drink daily portions of fruit juice are less likely to get Alzheimer's than those who don't.
I don't remember where I heard it, of course, but take it for what it's worth.
