My back is not doing well today at all. I don'ty know, as I reported earlier, if it's a kidney, a pulled musicle, or that damned crush disc in my lower spine. It has not been a happy day.

I've been watching the 1999 BBC adaptation of David Copperfield with Daniel Radcliffe and Maggie Smith as Aunt Betsey Trotwood. I watched it in 1999, and I'm amazed at how much I had forgotten and how wonderful the cast is. How could David's mother have been so taken in by Mr Murdstone and his evi twin? Trevor Eve and the wonderful Zoe Wanamaker are the stuff of nightmares as the Murdstones.

I did remember, though, how wonderful Maggie Smith is as Aunt Betsey.

I have a rather strange musical on my to-watch table. Fritz Lang’s You and Me with George Raft and Sylvia Sydney. Kurt Weill score. It’s all about greed and the love of money versus the love of a good woman. The DVD box doesn’t even mention it’s a musical.
