TCB, I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope you're able to see another doctor for a second opinion and find that they treat you with courtesy and compassion this time.

I agree with Jane about probiotics. I would also recommend DGL, which repairs the intestinal lining. Pain medications damage the lining. My favorite is Natural Factors DGL, which I find very effective and I like the taste. They're chewables and coat the lining of the esophagus once you swallow them, then move on to the gut. If you have a tendency toward heartburn you'll be very glad you've been taking them, as it's far less painful once the DGL has healed the scratches and dings in your esophagus. Best to take them on am empty stomach and avoid food and drinks (except water) for 20 minutes to let the DGL do its job.
