Jane, are many other people in your area wearing masks? They are required again here in indoor public spaces.

It isn't required here.  I would say more people are wearing them since covid has increased though the majority of people are not wearing them.

I agree with Jane about probiotics. I would also recommend DGL, which repairs the intestinal lining. Pain medications damage the lining. My favorite is Natural Factors DGL, which I find very effective and I like the taste. They're chewables and coat the lining of the esophagus once you swallow them, then move on to the gut. If you have a tendency toward heartburn you'll be very glad you've been taking them, as it's far less painful once the DGL has healed the scratches and dings in your esophagus. Best to take them on am empty stomach and avoid food and drinks (except water) for 20 minutes to let the DGL do its job.

I hope you find relief soon.

Are those the licorice ones?

I'm glad some people are being cautious and wearing them.

Yes, it's a form of licorice that has been treated so it doesn't affect your blood pressure. I'm not a big fan of licorice, but I like the Natural Factors' taste.

Thanks DR Jeanne.  I initially used that when I first got GERD.  It gave some relief but the quality was inconsistent.  That was a good while ago and I am not sure it was the same brand you are using.  I never considered going back on it once the medication kicked in as it worked much better, and my symptoms were severe.  I wish I had thought to try it again when I was off the medication.
