I stuffed too much food and drink into my mouth after rehearsal late last night, but fortunately had an okay sleep in spite of it.

It rained this morning but now the sun is shining.  I hope it continues for the day.

TOD:

A Tale of Two Cities - I like this production a lot.  I miss Edna Mae Oliver as Pross.....but we get the final guillotine drop sound effect that we don't get in the Ronald Colman version....among other things.

Victim
Doctor At Sea
I Could Go On Singing
The Spanish Gardener

and probably a few others.....

I haven’t seen all that many Dirk Bogarde movies, but I always like him.

The Servant
Accident
The Mind Benders
The Night Porter

I know I must be leaving out a bunch, but those are the ones that always come to mind.

Kitty cleanup is finished, bed made, trash taken to basement (no mail), and my neighbor Ann stopped by to check on me. I will ponder this orchestra interlude I need to write now.

The Carol Kane movie is When a Stranger Calls - it was a sleeper hit and the following year every thriller tried to copy its title in some way - Don't Answer the Phone!, Don't Go in the House (both 1980), Don't Look in the Basement, etc...

I love Dirk Bogarde - he was in several light comedies that I saw and enjoyed as a kid, but it was Song Without End, Victim, and The Mind Benders that made me a real fan. He was brilliant in The Servant, Accident, Darling, The Damned, Death in Venice, The Night Porter, Providence, and even though everyone hated the movie, I loved him as the villain in Modesty Blaise.

He was also a wonderful writer - several excellent memoirs and several novels.

Thanks, BK! Before The Blair Witch I loved going to scary films, and I saw a lot. After The Blair Witch, I started having nightmare and that ended the fun.

My neighbor Ann scanned my Overture sketch, and itv looks fantastic. It's been sent off to the conductor in the UK. I've put away half of yesterday's laundry and now I will put away all the towels and washcloths.

Deborah Monk plays a hard-boiled, ugly Southern mother on Mercy Street. I bet she had fun with the role.

Isn't Mercy Street about the Civil War? I think I watched that on PBS. Lot of NY actors in it.

Yes. I missed it on the first go-round.

Tuesday afternoon greetings!

DR Ginny, did you and Richard catch Little Shop of Horrors at MLT? My connection with them seems more than one lifetime ago.

No, DR Elmore, but I have been in contact with MLT recently about a program they’re doing in December for one of my women’s groups.  I agree about the lifetimes…

Given all the days before, this is one helluva slow HHW Day.
