For those who love the "golden era" of old Hollywood film scores, you might enjoy a new release, "Hollywood Soundstage," by John Wilson and the Sinfonia of London on Chandos.

I didn't know about this! John is a friend, and he seemed to be moving more into the classical repertoire.

It's been a terrible morning:
   1.  Amazon Fresh arrived around 9:15; the frozen foods were shabbily packed, and the ice cream was melted;
   2.  One item was omitted so I had to call for a credcit;
   3.  While I was dragging everything from the hall into the apartment, Annabelle and Stella played in hte hall, sniffng the bags of groceries and romping about; Stella came back in and Annabelle got lost so I had to go looking for her following her cries for help.
   4.  The cries stopped, and that frightened me becuae I was using her noise to determine on which floor she had gone to.
   5. The neighbor in 4C found me wandering the halls with my walker and calling for Annabelle to tell me there was a cat under his bed. After some cvoaxing, he retrieved her, set her on my shoulder and we came home.

Wow, DR elmore3003! Glad Annabelle has returned safe and sound. She may not cry over spilled milk, but ice cream is another matter.

Most of John Wilson's recent releases over the past few years have been of the classical variety. They're quite good.

Well we have a Mercury retrograde starting tonight at 11:06 p.m. EST.

And already Jupiter Saturn Uranus and Pluto are in retrograde - so this is going to be a few weeks of world shaking events.

This is in addition of course to the usual communication, computer, car and electronics interruptions....

It lasts until October 1.

I think you will enjoy it.

More than the parents who are trying to get it banned.

I did a bit of research on this.  A 7th grade teacher requested to make this as part of the curriculum.  As with all books requested, it was sent to review.  Parts of the book were considered inappropriate for 7th graders, however, they still read excerpts from the book and discuss them.

I watched a video which included students from the school named for him, and they were reading important sections.

Something I recently learned about (yes, this late in life) is arrabbiata sauce, a delightfully "hot" version of a marinara.
(It's not TOO hot, and it has a great flavor.)

ANYHOO.......I immediately began referring to it as abracadabra sauce.

Okay, you can quit cracking up now. I know that was a real knee slapper, but BREAK'S OVER. Back to work, everyone.

I always scratch my head when I hear My Favorite Things sung as a Christmas song. Some Enchanted Evening is even more questionable. Yet here it is on a Petula Clark album.

No weirder than Babs' "Christmas" version of Sondheim's "I Remember." ::)
