Tonight's rehearsal went...not as badly as everyone thinks...at least, according to our director. :)

Here's a quick and simple survey...how many of you (who've done theater of any kind) have heard the terms "paper tech" and "cue-to-cue," versus "dry tech" and "wet tech"??

For the theater I've done, it's been "paper tech" and "cue-to-cue," which I much prefer.

"Dry tech" and "wet tech" just sound wrong. :P

With today's topic title, I am pondering the forthcoming Broadway opening of Kimberly Akimbo, a musical adaption of  David Linsday-Abaire's play, with a score by Jeanine Tesori.

And starring a most overrated actress.

Wow!  Without even looking, I can tell you who that might be.

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were askew, askance, and akimbo, which is also the name of my accounting firm, and now it is time for you to post until the askew, askance, and akimbo cows come home.

Was that Spiro Askew?

He looks a little like my old kitty, Benjamin Stone.

Was he a poet?  Or a lover?e

The 1776 reviews were much more positive than I had expected.

I have heard both used quite often.  I would say that they both are used equally well, as long as every member of the production is aware of what is meant by each.

Monday will be the first run-through with costumes and props (I only have two of each), and no stopping...unless it's a train wreck!

I am sure you will be fantastic, George. I am just sorry that I probably won’t be able to see it.

Don't be.  Maybe they'll film this one like they did Mamma Mia! and I can PM a link.

It seems to me that the reviewers of 1776 are simply scared to be too negative. Many clearly hated it, but they're tempering their comments. That's because of the blatant statement that's in the press materials about the cast and all the gender boxes that are ticked. From what I've seen of it, I would not be tempering my comments.
