Jo has informed me that yesterday the doctors had Randy up and walking and he sat up in a chair for 2.5 hours. She says he is doing very well.

Question for the class:

Is anyone familiar with the 1961 Mexico City cast recording of The Fantasticks - Los Fantastikos - that Stage Door is reissuing? I know it's been a rarity, but how good is it, actually?

I'm probably willing to just find out for myself, but I wanted to ask.

I never knew about it (probably because I never bothered to look, I'm sure), but I did order it.

I got it off my chest, at any rate!

Oddly enough, I returned to Naples 10 years later for a NATO assignment, and that same teacher approached me about starting the theater up again.   The best we could do was a dinner theater production which I directed.  That was enough for me. Mouting a production in the base theater did not pan out.  An earthquake had struck Naples in the late 70s and a lot of the housing near the base was considered unsafe, so folks had moved farther out.  Because of that, no one wanted to travel 15 miles or more if they didn't have a lead role.  Pete, the teacher, wanted to do "Guys and Dolls". 50 or so people responded to auditions, but after it was cast, less than half showed up for rehearsals.  He then decided to do a smaller show..."A Funny Thing..."...and he cast it, and at the first rehearsal only five showed up.

Logistics are funny sometimes.

The kitty photos are sweet.  When we were on Hydra I purchased a cute pink t-shirt with multiple cat drawings on it and said the cats of Hydra.  Unfortunately I put a hole in it.

When we travel I like to purchase t-shirts with favorite places on it.  Finding a t-shirt to fit me is difficult, and finding  a nice style I like even more difficult.  This had everything.  To my disappointment I put a hole in the t-shirt and no longer have it.

DR Ron, Keith is checking if we can get John Carter.  Thanks for saying where you watched it.  It is hard to imagine we didn't see this in 2012.  Since we don't remember it we figure it would be worth watching again if we have seen it.

I called Randy. He sounds terrific. He was waiting for physical therapy to take him walking around the hospital. He thinks he will be relerased on Tuesday. He said the Macbeths were in earlier. Turns out that I, as the oldest, am the last to have cataract surgery.
