Watching a lovely movie - Swedish - A Man Called Ove. Of course, it's been remade for the US and is coming out in pure Oscar-bait fashion on Christmas Day starring Tom Hanks, who I'm sure in pure Oscar-bait fashion, will be nominated. I cannot imagine it will be as charming and heartfelt as the Swedish film, nor can I imagine a better performance than Rolf Lassgard, who was Wallendar in the first series of Swedish films and then the titular chapter in another Swedish crime series, Sebastian Bergman. More in the notes, but if you want to get a jump on it - it's free on Amazon Prime.

Glad someone else has seen that and liked it. I loved the book so much, I was afraid the Swedish movie wouldn't get it. But it is a perfect adaptation. And count me among those nervous about the remake.

Here is that skating performance that DR Ron Pulliam was referencing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WW11MQeyoCI

That first jump was a quad axel....4 1/2 revolutions; there was 800 pounds of pressure on his landing leg.  He did four axels in his program.

John Steed is now wearing a kilt. And Mrs. Peel is wearing a rather hideous but form-fitting plaid thing. The Scottish episode is called Castle De'ath.

I worried so much about those little girls sitting next to me seeing the scene John discusses. I was relieved when they left at intermission.

I am sure I would have felt the same way.

Me, as well.

Has anyone watched Magpie Murders?

I saw the first one last week, and I have recorded tonight's for viewing tomorrow.  I got distracted by a 100th anniversary look at the discovery of King Tut's tomb.

That's amazing!  And so we're the quads he did!

I don't believe I've ever seen a Dr. Who anything.

I only started watching it when it was rebooted in 2005.  Have been enjoying it ever since.

I didn't get to see the men's long skate that DR RON PULLIAM wrote about....but I am happy that Illia won.

He is very good - excellent in some areas.  I hope he has a long career ahead for all of us to enjoy.  It was good NOT to see some of the boring hang arounds that have been on the circuit so many years....

My local NBC affiliate decided not to show the men’s skating, so, I had to watch it on Peacock.   It was nice that I got to see all 12 skaters full programs, but they were shown without any commentary.  I am afraid I don’t know one jump from another, so I need some help from Tara and Johnny.

Tom, there supposedly is a masturbation scene in the new Oklahoma! It’s when they’re looking at dirty pictures in Jud’s place.

Have I been living under a rock?  I have not heard anything about this production.  I’m shocked that it was allowed to open.

Sunday evening greetings!  We’ve had a quiet day, but about 5:30 I was working at my desk and Richard was watching TV when we heard a loud crash and breaking glass.  By yelling we each determined that the other was OK, but we met in the living room to find the outer pane of our double-paned picture window shattered.

We went outside and looked for a rock or a ball or a dead bird and found nothing.  We can only assume that it was a bird that was able to fly off.

My gosh, Ginny, how scary!
