I got to sleep at some point after 11:00, after about two hours of lying in bed wondering why I wasn't sleepy. It wasn't the cats, it was the damned heat! After sitting last weekend on 12-32 degrees F, temperatures are now in the 50s and it's too damned hot in the apartment.

So, I slept in an extra hour this morning, and to my complete surprise, all three cats let me.

Today I must assemble laundry for tomorrow morning, tidy up a bit, and get to work on the three Dear World scores sitting on my work table.

DR vixmom, I am so sorry about your current state of health. I hope the muscle relaxers and pain meds work swiftly for you. Have you checked that nothing was broken or seriously injured in your fall?

Last night, BK mentioned both waffles and chicken fricassee.

Here's a chicken and waffle casserole recipe, combining the two in one:

Back.

I think my iPhone 7+ from 2017 is starting to get tired, at least when trying to navigate and post on a browser. Too many things are taking too much effort, such as locating a cursor, pinching to zoom in or out, etc.

Some great food mentions last night.

I have indeed thought about fish sticks these past few years, and yes, Gorton is the big brand name in my stores for all frozen fish and shrimp things. We like their popcorn shrimp and I did try some fish filets a couple of years ago and really liked them. I thought they were awfully small, so a package of them was practically a "serving" for the likes of me, but they were good. I'll be happy to pick up their fish sticks sometime soon.

As might have been the case with most of us, fish sticks meant Fridays in the elementary schools, and perhaps beyond. We dutifully ate them, and also for some of us, that was our "seafood". I don't even remember when I first had a bite of anything else seafood-wise, but it was definitely after leaving home for school. My dad got into various seafood items when we lived in Florida, but to her dying day, my mother wouldn't go near anything except breaded fried shrimp. Maybe shrimp cocktail, not sure now.

What else was mentioned? Spencer steak. I hadn't heard that name in years. If it's boneless ribeye, BRING IT ON. Hell, bring it on anyway, whatever it is.

I know I have had fish sticks, mostly without paprika, but I am hazy on the details. I do like fried fish. Tempura fish are kinda like Japanese fish sticks.
