I didn’t get my hair cut during the pandemic. It got fairly long and I liked it.

I have never dyed my hair, which is now gray around my face and brown at the back. I sometimes don’t recognize myself in photos of me from behind.

I have accomplished all my household chores and I can sit down and orchestrate the Introduction to the ballet.  Last night, after I gave the cats their night treat @ 6:00, I sat down to score the last six bars of No. 26. Within 15 minutes, I had Stella lying down on the back of the TV case, Annabelle lying on my score paper, and Thatch in my lap. Times is hard, Mrs. Lovett.

Hair.....what is that?

My hair was probably the longest in high school - but that wasn't very long.

I haven't had a lot of hair on top since my early 20's.....so I've always worn it short.

One of my sisters cuts my hair and its usually about every six or eight weeks.

There was a dusting of s**w last night - but the streets and sidewalks did not suffer.

Well, dear DRs, I am happy and relieved to report that we came through the Half Hour Blizzard of 2023 unscathed!

The city had been holding its collective breath on this one. We had, after all, had that one snowfall back in December which had required one pass with the plow and a few minutes of shovel-scraping next to the garage. So we knew we were overdue for one, and it had been forecast that we could get one to three before it turned to rain and left us with a slushy mess requiring much time and effort in cleanup.

At 2:45 pm yesterday it started, coming down surprisingly fast and accumulating rapidly on the grass and trees. And then the dreaded covering of the asphalt began. At this rate, we would most certainly have that couple of inches before it would turn to rain and bring disaster.

I made a phone call and returned to my book. At about five after three I looked up at the window and it seemed like the rate of snowfall had slowed. I kept eyeing that, and honestly couldn’t see the snowfall from my chair, so a few minutes later I got up and walked to the front door. It had stopped snowing, and the driveway had completely cleared itself. It was a solid black stretch of asphalt. The temperature was already close to 40 and was to rise steadily throughout the evening. Nothing further happened.

The End

Boy did you luck out :)

Last night I started William Styron's Set This House On Fire.

It is most enjoyable.  The chapters are much shorter than those in Lie Down In Darkness.....

I like the story, too.

I think my hair was longest in the 1970s. I had stopped cutting it sometime around 1969 in grad school. I used to waer it in a pony tail that I tucked under my hat for work. As my thinning hair went from sad to tragic, I finally decided to cut it short/ I think that may have been around 1977or so. During the pandemic, I didn't cut it between January and September 2020 - I'm so happy I have my calendar and tax records from 2020! - and then I got it cut again in November. I remember that early in the pandemic my barber of 202 years called to tell me he was retiring and the shop at Radio City was closing.  My September haircut was with my new barber, a block away from my apartment.

After 202 years, who could blame him?
