DR Elmore is having his second eye done on March 6, and another friend in NYC is having her first eye done on March 7.

I know at least two other people elsewhere who have recently had the cataract surgery, or who are soon to as well.

I, in the meantime, still await my consultation appointment which isn't until March 17.

The Year of Cataract Removal.

Or, The Year of Seeing Clearer.

DePauw University was supposed to be doing Gilbert & Sullivan's 'Trial By Jury' but I just got a message saying that they production is a series of 22 G/S songs put together as a fun mystery/comedy by the director and the entire orchestra under the direction of the head of the orchestra/opera department.

I wonder what happened to 'Trial By Jury'?

(Yes, I know it’s for real. It’s just … almost unimaginable. And yet … 94.)

I also love Susan Egan’s version on BK’s first Bacharach album.

Smarty the Car started this morning.....so I drove him around town for awhile and let him run a few minutes, too.

So unless we have low low temps for a few days in a row, he should be fine.  I'll drive him to the store tomorrow.

The news is certainly reverberating.

I've had two friends who aren't even into music enough to be knowledgeable about a lot of songwriters' names tell me they're shocked to hear that Burt Bacharach has died.

A few years ago, a co-worker asked if I remembered the song, "Always Something There To Remind Me" by Naked Eyes from the 1980s?  I said that I did.

He asked if I knew that it was a cover version?  And that the original was from the 1960s?
I said that I didn't!

I looked it up and found  Lou Johnson's version and thought to myself that that has a real Burt Bacharach vibe to it.  And THEN I found that BB had written it! ;D
