I remember the spread of lies on Jan. 6 that the failed coup attempt was caused by antifa and I remember screaming at the TV that no, it was caused by Republicans. Since then I have no patience with talking heads who just lie because it’s what their listeners want to hear and what they want to be true versus what is true.

I "fought" YouTube for the longest time, in my ignorance, trying to get its opening screen of "suggestions" tailored to show only the types of things I'd have an interest in. I'd keep clicking or tapping on the "no interest" option in hopes of it learning what I want to see - as some applications can do, more or less. I finally realized that YouTube had absolutely no interest in being customized by me, and now I don't even look at the first page. I usually go to my subscriptions to see what might be new with any of those before getting down to any other business. And I don't click on anything political - on almost any site, but definitely YouTube and Facebook.

And more to the point in regard to BK's experience, I've pretty much given up trying to correct or challenge anyone I don't know on just about anything online.

An exception would be those times on Facebook when someone is posting wrong information about movies and theaters, or wrong info about LA (or any other place I know), which, if I were coming upon it for the first time myself, I'd be very interested in learning only what's correct. People in these situations can be aggravating, but sometimes not, and that kind of thing most often stays fun and interesting anyway. But politics? Impossible.

I couldn't agree more - as some say.

And earlier comments are right on the money.

I stay far away and I feel sad for those who get caught up in this flurry of misinformation.....it should be illegal. And it should be stopped. But everyone is making too much money from it.

As soon as someone can figure out how to NOT make it pay, it will go away. But I do not think that will happen.
