I used to have a piece of a Robin Wagner set. It was the candy box and arm of Miss Lonelyhearts from the failed Sgt. Pepper’s Lonelyhearts Club Band.

All the sets were stored in a warehouse in Catskill where they were left to rot. A friend had Paul and George in his backyard.

I have a friend (mutual with BK) who has movie backdrops rolled up in his garage. He may have purchased them at an auction or simply scavenged them, I never asked how. But, he has a painted backdrop from "The Egyptian", among others. He was a cinematographer for many decades before he retired.

When I saw the Rosemary Harris-led revival of Hay Fever, Charles Kimbrough had a moment near the end. The horrible weekend in the country is coming to an end and two people are sitting down to a wretched breakfast. He passes a tray of kippers to someone—I think it was Deborah Rush—who takes a timid and horrified bite. “It’s not very good, is it?” he mumbled. And the theater burst into laughter.

I’ll never forget that.

Today feels like Monday!

I have a distinct memory of what it was like to go to work following a three-day weekend: All the upper management would be a-flurry trying to get accomplished what they believed had been lost on the holiday. The day would be long, things would get done hastily (things that would have to be redone later on in the week), and everyone would be miserable.

Don't miss that at all.

I have a very big day planned: Pest Control is coming this afternoon for my quarterly house treatment. It works really well. If I ever see a bug, it's already dead. In five years, I have probably seen three dead ones.

I am almost to the point of making a decisive move toward cleaning out things that my mom had accumulated (didn't want to let go).

She was born in 1929 and her formative years were totally post-depression and every effort was made to take care of what she had. She and my father took care of their possessions, and when it was time to let them go, they would sell them. They never asked very much, but always got a decent price.

So here I come from California where I have given away way too much (but probably not enough) in order to economically move across country.

I miss nothing of what I let go. And that's a lesson I'll not forget.

But I do have a 10-ft X 10-ft. storage shed full of things I kept. Floor to ceiling storage, too.

That has to wait until I get some order here. Perhaps it will all be done before I pass from this existence into the next.

This has been a most irritating morning. I got a call about tomorrow's hip replacement, something that had supposedly been canceled over a week ago. Then I got a message from enox Hill Hospital about some bill that's overdue. I hasve no idea what the hell this is about.

Sorry, DR Elmore, I have to laugh. It's completely ridiculous that we should get these reminders about procedures, etc., that have long ago been cancelled. But I get them, too. Both from my own medical establishments and from our vet. Completely absurd. How can these healthcare organizations have software programming that doesn't handle this basic task of syncing everything up?

I think it was my dentist's office manager to whom I mentioned that I'd received one of those, including a request for the medical update form that I'd updated and submitted two weeks prior, and that I completely ignored all of that. She just laughed and said that was fine. So why is it fine that I even got those obsolete communications in the first place?

So yes, today is the Monday that's really a Tuesday. When I was working, I think I used to find these post-holiday four-day weeks at least as annoying as the five-day ones. They sometimes seemed even longer than the usual.
