Me, too.  I know we have police cars, but i never see more than one, and then only rarely.

Our mayor is one of my church's deacons.

Back from Sam's Club.

Had a very nice shopping...ice cream, key lime pie, blueberry muffins, chicken teriyaki, and maple syrup.

Driving, however, was upsetting inasmuch as every time I encountered a vehicle about to enter the road, said vehicle pulled out in front of me causing me to hit my brakes.   It's like they don't have a clue how to assess traffic flow.

And don't let me get started on drivers at four-way stops.   It boggles my mind why those stops confound anyone.

I was ready for sleep last night. So I didn’t finish my book. Maybe today.

DR JohnG, I can't speak of other Victorian translations, but I do know that the lesbian couple in Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo were downgraded to just good friends. Isn't Nana a great backstage novel? I love the scene of the madam giving the chorus girls their after-the-show assignments.

Either Meilhac or Halevy, the librettists for Offenbach's La Belle Helene, La Vie Parisienne, and La Perichole as well as Bizet's Carmen, gave Zola gossip about Offenbach's troupe, especially the scandalous Hortense Schneider.
I read a newer translation of Count, which was clear about the lesbian couple. Dumas had his lesbian couple. Zola had his lesbian bar. Balzac wrote a novel about a gay male couple. Good for the French for representation at least.

And fascinating about Offenbach. Thanks.

In my old neighborhood there was a public wooden statue on the street depicting a lamplighter. Back when they had such things.

I have a picture of it, but covered in depths of snow, so you can't really make out any of the details.

I stopped by NewsMax for a moment last night just to see what the alternate universe was saying.  Obviously the corrupt FBI and DOJ are doing Biden's bidding in bringing up these false charges - and that proves that collusion was present during the 2020 election and it's obvious that the election was stolen and that DJT must be protected and vindicated.  Send money.

I caught a bit of Mike Pence's dead monotone interview about the Trump indictment; he was rattling on about the weaponization of the FBI. Hmmm, wasn't that what he and 45 were attempting?

The Right's reaction to this has been hilarious. To know HOW hilarious, just imagine if this we a Democrat ex-president - just imagine THAT for true hilarity.

Mike Pence believes, I think, that we have all forgotten the spectacle, early in the Trump presidency, of him and Trump's cabinet members sitting around the table kissing Trump's ass before a news crew while Trump simply sat there and absorbed it as if he deserved it.

I will never forget it.  No one ever associated with Trump, who praised Trump, who served Trump, will ever get forgiveness from me, and I will NEVER FORGET about it.

It is one of the most APPALLING AND LUDICROUS things to have ever happened in the White House!

It's a beautiful day here today. Semi-sunny, not too hot, not too humid.
