Sports Day was fun to witness. It’s still going on, but I had to come home and pack as I am being whisked away by the family on a Father’s Day weekend trip or event of some sort. I have no idea what it could be but the promise is that it will be one of the top 5 events of my life. I’ll let you all know.

Trying to read between the lines about Mark Taper Forum season being cancelled. What are the “Covid reverberations”?

Tonight I'm going to see another production of Urinetown - at the closest theeder to me, which is nice for a change. I just saw it a few months ago, but I seem to be enjoying it the more I see it, so what the hell. This one will be at a better standard than some of the others, and several friends are involved, so it should be a nice evening.

Perhaps he will re-create the vision of Venus emerging from a scallop shell.

The air quality here today is down to the low 30s. I have no idea what that means, but relative to over 200, I guess that's good.

For the chef’s table, we had six courses, all smallish plates that they served at a relaxed pace. They also gave Carol dishes different from mine, so we shared and got to try more. Favorites were a featherweight gnocchi with radish greens, roasted radish as sweet as a parsnip alongside a sweet potato-Manchego croquette and a watermelon salad topped with Maui goat cheese.

Sounds great, John!

A dessert of vanilla icream topped with chocolate, toasted coconut and candied macadamia nuts. On the side a chocolate coated coconut marshmallow.

Oh, my!  That looks so good!

Gyõrgi Ligeti's "La Grand Macabre."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0l43g9x_LlE&t=140s

It's a classical opera, but listen to the first minute (it starts at 1'39") and tell me you're not thinking of P.D.Q. Bach.
