People no longer care what they say on the phone. As representatives of a business, they should know what they’re talking about. But they often don’t, and they too often just say something that will end the call so they can move on to the next. They’re rarely identifiable (even when you do recall the name of whomever you spoke with), and they’re not held accountable.

What irks the heck out of me is that I will answer the phone, and the male voice on the other end will say one of two things:

"Barbara?"

or

"Mrs. Pulliam"?

My response to both comments is "Do I SOUND like Barbara/Mrs. Pulliam?"

If they don't hang up immediately, I'll ask the Barbara inquirers if they knew my mom...because if they didn't, using her first name was very disrespectful.

No call has ever gone further than that.
