I couple of people on Facebook were complaining that they now had 1400 bottles of water. The panic shopping was amazing. All blamable on the media's overhyping to get ratings. They knew exactly the two or three areas that were impacted, none of which affected major cities, but all the kept doing was showing flooding and mudslides, several of which were not even from this year. And then not begin specific about where those were taking place, just saying Southern California was being slammed.

I am sorry you felt cheated by the actual path the tropical storm took, Bruce.  Your disappointment/disgust is palpabe.

Not sure why you feel the need to be snarky here. I see no disappointment/disgust in my post, nor did I say I felt cheated. My points were pretty simple and had NOTHING to do with me - it had to do with the media and the way they were reporting things, but if you didn't see that then you didn't see that. I said clearly it hit certain places and that's what the news should have said - named the SPECIFIC places, rather than being general and acting like it was everywhere in Southern California. That's why people were out panic shopping because there was no specificity.

I do apologize for the amazing number of typos in my post - I really do have to wear the old reading glasses and not try to post without them. Yikes.

Today is World Jollof Rice Day. So, a friend treated us to a dinner of West African dishes, including jollof, peanut stew and plantains. Dessert was Mexican, a spice cake with rum-spiked whipped cream. She was just in the mood for it.
