Q for BK:
Regarding special movie previews, Harvey doesn’t get into comment cards much. Were there always comment cards or people talking to the audience after the films? Or sometimes was the goal just to watch an audience’s general reaction? I’m curious if there was some sort of feedback generally asked of the preview audiences, or could you enjoy previews and never get asked your opinion at all?

My experience with previews, and I saw as many as Preview Harvey, was that comment cards were a rarity. I actually can't ever remember seeing a comment card before or after a preview. If the filmmakers and studio were there, they'd gauge the audience reaction. The only time I remember huge amounts of redos being done based on bad previews were The Sandpiper and Return of the Pink Panther. The latter had a huge number of fixes and reshoots after the preview I saw. Same with The Sandpiper.

Mel Brooks did it very differently. He'd screen the film for an audience on the Fox lot. I saw three or four of his movies that way because I was friends with his assistant. I don't recall any heavy changes, though, just trims and stuff. The fun part was there was no music in the films when we saw those screenings.

I would hate to have only one swearing day a week.....especially when I'm directing a show.

Checked DoorDash for the order before five thing, but there's none today unless they start it after the lunch hour, which may be the case. I can wait. Feeling a bit better.

Music cues are finished.

I use a nice free program called Ocenaudio when I need to edit an MP3 or add an early fade.......it's obviously easy to use because I can do it.

There are several effects that I have never even used....but it seems to be a program that can accomplish much.

I get more nervous as a director than I do as an actor.

Ran a couple of errands, and since I take a shortcut through BJ's driveway to cut through to the main road, I can report that gas is still $3.56, where I think it's been holding for a couple of weeks.

Weather-wise, we are now supposedly in a nice dry and not-too-hot pattern for the next few days, but I see that they're threatening us with another few days of 90 or just above in the middle of next week.

Question for Bruce:

Did you see a preview for "Young Frankenstein" on the Fox lot?  If so, is it true there was a backstage scene (during the theater presentation of the Monster) in which Dr. Frankenstein sees Igor in a tux without a hump and asks him what happened to his hump?  Allegedly, Igor said, "Never with tails".

Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain.

All day long.

But...that's good as long as the winds don't get too strong.

They are promising more rain tomorrow.

There's one big problem with that statement.

We can't have "more" if we haven't had any yet.

Today is my DH's birthday. We went to the buffet to celebrate because we are old people.

I filled my plate with meat items. I gave of myself until I became anemic, apparently.

I think I'd remember that so I don't think so. It was pretty much the finished film without music. I don't remember any scenes being cut, maybe just trims.

Yesterday DR Ron Pulliam said:
Quote
Yes, I have had several varieties of smashburgers, and I have loved all of them, for the most part.

I like the crispy patties more than any chewy patty.  It's pure flavor.  Cheese adds the chewiness, and I love grilled onions and pickles on them, too.

Thank you, sir. A voice out of the wilderness. That makes two of us in this jernt who know and understand smash burgers. Right down to the onions and pickles which of course work on many styles of burger, but they're incredibly well matched to these.

I love many kinds of burgers, but we have here, 15 minutes from my house, one of the greatest and most lovable of original drive-ins whose style of burger has always been this, though it was never called that because the word is a new trendy thing. It's one of the best smash burgers you could hope to stuff into your pie hole. The picture below shows them on a typical summer Saturday evening when they host a "cruise night" for showing off yer vintage automobile. You can't do better on a Saturday than to wander through there admiring the cars and eating your fill of the most scrumptious cheeseburgers, fries, shakes, and homemade root beer.

So yes, they're nothing new, but someone finally gave a name to the method. They're easy to make at home on a very hot griddle or frying pan, and I really steamed up my kitchen when I first tried it. Must revisit that.

Sadly, I'm not too surprised BK's didn't impress. I don't see a fast-made serve-it-hot burger like that retaining all of its qualities on a home delivery basis. You really want to sit right at the counter where you can see them being made, and eat 'em as they come off the grill.
