Tonight I'm going to the Bedford Playhouse for "Classic Tuesdays" to see Robert Altman's take on Raymond Chandler's The Long Goodbye. I was one who most assuredly didn't love it when it came out, because I'd just read several of the Chandlers and watched a couple of the old films, and I wasn't open to such new interpretation. Fast forward a few decades, and I finally understood the value in Altman's vision. It also contains some priceless early-1970s footage of L.A. locations. It will be a pleasure to see it on the big screen.
